What would cause the speedometer on a 2005 suburban 1500 to stop working?
What would stop it from working is a factory defect I believe which affects 2003-2005 Suburbans and Trucks. Your 05 may still be under the extended warranty GM offered for the defect. Otherwise the instrument cluster is around $300.00.
Check with a GM dealer about the problem (it's free to check) as I am not certain it affected Suburbans (it did affect "trucks"), nor am I certain how "extended" the repair offer was.

What year and make did this Chevy 4.3 V6 come out of here is the engine code 10105867?
You need to find the year stamp on the block (located near the block number) I will be a code such as A068 OR J306. This is the datecode for the engine block. The letter stands for the month of production (a= January b=february, etc.. "I" is not used, and skipped.) The next 2 numbers is the day of that month. The last digit is the year code. If this block does not have an active mechanical fuel pump on it, then the last number will be in refernce to the 1980's. A number 4 would mean 1984. So, for instance, a date code of a mechanical fuel pump motor with A315 would mean January 31, 1985. If it was fuel injected, it would be in the 1990's. There were not any 867 engine code blocks made in 2000-2006 (those are 090 blocks)
There were many of these converted muskets built from post civil war surplus in the US and Anglo - Zulu war in British empire. They are sometimes referred to as cannon breech, and are pre-smokless powder conversions. There were many armorers converting these guns to everything from .303 to 12 gauge. Your gun I believe is a Manufrance conversion. Manufrance is a well known french company, fonded by Étienne Mimard et Pierre Blachon in 1885 at Saint-Étienne. The one I have is a 12 gauge and I fire lite (50 grain) black powder loads with no problem. As for value I see them range from less than $100 to around 250 dependant on condition and caliber.
