Where does number 1 plug into the distributor cap on a 1969 Chevy pick-up?
Hey Jerry==Since it is not new it is possible that it has been changed from factory. To find out where it is, if it is factory or not, pull #1 spark plug ,and the coil wire so it won't start, and stick your finger on the plug hole and have someone bump the starter to see when the piston comes up on compression stroke. When you feel preasure, turn the engine with the belts and pull the timing marks up to tdc. Pull the dist cap and where the rotor is pointing is #1 on the cap .the firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 and the dist turns clockwise. GoodluckJoe

Can egr valve affect the brakes?
No the EGR valve has nothing whatsoever to do with the brakes. It is an emissions control device.
-But since it could affect a little the idling rate of the engine, and since the engine when idling generates more vacuum that by its turn assists the vehicle brakes force needed to act on the pedal, indeed it could "affect the brakes" a little. Not directly; as I described the driver would need to press harder on the pedal to get same breaking results as he/she is used to, maybe leading to some sort of dangerous situation.
How do you check ignition timing in a car that turns over but won't start?
If it doesn't start, there's no way you can do it with a timing gun or any electronic device. If you suspect the car is not starting because the timing is off, you can set #1 piston at Top Dead Center and remove the distributor cap to see if the rotor is pointing to the #1 spark plug wire tower. If the rotor does not point directly at the #1 tower, loosen the distributor hold-down just enough to manually rotate the distributor until the rotor and #1 tower line up and try to start the engine - the procedure described sets the timing close enough so that the engine will start. From there you can proceed to set the timing with a timing gun or other electronic device. For lack of such equipment, and for temporary service, you can slowly rotate the distributor in both directions until you get the best "purr" of the engine.
Should i put a nitrous plate on top of or below my carb spacer on a small block Chevy?
The difference would in most cases be negligible, but the simple andswer is better. I would place the nitrous plate underneath your carb spacer right on top of the intake manifold if it is a multiholed spacer. Reason being is that if you have a multihole spacer, it may interfere with the nitrous flow and cause the atomized nitrous and gas to drop out of suspension and puddle. This can cause very bad issues if it builds up and there is a back fire through the intake. However the issue isn`t as much of a problem with an open spacer as there is negligible difference in flow impedance. Now the opposite might be true if you have a very low profile intake. In that case I recommend above an open spacer as it will keep the nitrous jetting from hitting the intake floor, which also would result in some loss of atomized mixture. Hope this has helped
What causes wet floors drivers side?
This is often caused by a blocked air conditioner drain. When the air conditioner develops condensation, it has nowhere to go but either the driver's or passenger's side floorboards. In addition, the floor can be rusted out which will cause water intake as well.
You can go to many websites for detailed repair information, I like to use autozone myself, you have to do a free registration, enter the vehicle you are working on and the use the "repair guide" section. Most vehicles have detailed info for things like front axle seals. Good Luck !
Is a 1969 Cutlass supreme 2 door with a 350 Rocket considered a muscle car?
If the 1969 Cutlass supreme isn't a muscle car, I dont know what is! Starting with the body style; It has that classic mean type "A" body style. The 350 rocket 4bbl was made with 325-340 horsepower STOCK! With just a little tweeking you could get up in that 350-375 horsepower range. Its a beautiful car and the 350 rocket was made for torque. Where as the 350 chevy was made for rpm and solid horsepower. Its just a matter of your personal preference.

How do you make timing adjustments for a 235 Chevy 6 cylinder?
Just above the starter motor you'll see a window and if you look closely you'll see a thin pointer at about 10:00 pointing to the center of the hole.
Shift the tranny into neutral, set the parking brake and chock the wheels, remove the spark plugs & the entire #1 plug wire from the engine and using the fan, and turn the engine until you see a steel ball bearing (like a BB) in the flywheel line up with the pointer. Now carefully remove the distributor cap by holding it in place and gently prying the two spring clips off with your screwdriver, lift the cap away and see if the outer tip of the rotor is pointing at the same position that the #1 plug wire occupied in the distributor cap - it may well be 1/2 turn away (180 degrees); this is OK. You can either begin at step 2 or turn the engine one full revolution until the steel ball is again lined up in the window with the pointer and the rotor tip is pointing toward where #1 plug wire goes.
