Fusible links are the small red wires that are connected to the starter. These wires have a heavy plastic insulation cover, and are designed to burn out inside upon failure. You will usually see a white or black plastic 2" cylindric section within a foot of the starter, along these wires.

Mechanically, you can bolt it right in so long as you either (a) get a rear end from Single Rear Wheel 1 Ton; (b) move the spring mounts on the 90's rear end out of a 1 Ton Dually outboard 1/16" on each side; or (c) modify your rear shackles to dually shackles to compensate for the narrower spring perches on the Dually Axle.

I say to use caution for this reason, the ABS system in the 2001 style trucks. I did a swap using a rear end out of a 1998 K3500 SRW and put it into my 2000 Silverado 1500 4x4 (New Body Style). Everything worked out perfect with two exceptions. (1) I had to modify the cable ends on the parking brake. No big deal. And (2) the new ABS system is pressure controlled in the ABS unit itself, and the drum brake setup on the 1998 body style does not use the same hydraulic pressures when braking as the new body style trucks like ours. I believe that converting the 1998 style rear end over to disk brakes will solve this ABS issue, but I cannot confirm that yet since I still have not done the conversion on my truck.

Even with the ABS issue, I am still able to drive my truck daily, pull trailers, haul loads, etc. Just be prepared for your ABS system to actuate without warning or foreseeable cause. I am interested to hear of potential corrections for the ABS issue on this topic.

To install a tachometer first determine where the tachometer will be mounted on the dash column. Then, use a flathead screwdriver to tighten the clamp around the column of the tachometer mount. Next, put the two red "trigger" wires through the firewall and connect the other ends to the coil wires of the distributor. Wrap the tachometer wire around the ignition coil bolts. The remaining two wires must be wired into the ignition of the car. Insert them into the power terminal of the fuse box which permits the tachometer to operate when the engine is on.

taking the window out is easy. you push the inner lip of rubber over the opening towards the outside keep pushing out on the glass and popping the rubber through all the way around the wondow opening. get someone to help with the outside holding it still while you push and unlock the rubber lip. installation is a little tricky you need enough string to go all the way around the rubber in side of the seam. no thicker than 1/4". lube the string with non pumice hand cleaner. make sure that the strings cross a few feet on the bottom. set the rubber where it sitting in the groove on the lower part of the window. have your assitant push against the glass while you pull the string out. keep tapping the window as you do this. pulling the string out pops the rubber seal to where it is supposed to be. don't be a ninny. just pulling the string will not work if you do not pay attention and try to work the rubber into postition. good luck.

I'm not sure why you'd want to put a small block Chevy in that Pontiac. But some things to keep in mind....most of the engine wiring is on the opposite side. You'll need to change engine mounts on the frame and you'll also have to make sure to get a Chevy transmission as the B.O.P.C trannys won't bolt to a Chevy.
