Why is engineering tolerance important?
Because you can count on parts to not be perfect. So if you want them all to fit, the need some room for the grease.
What are the advantages and limitations of a CNC machine?
Benefits. . High production piece. Accuracy. Production speed.
Constraints .. Long-term planning. Expensive CNC machine
What word is used to describ a metal made by combining other metals?
I think you're looking for "an alloy." According to the Wikipedia page, "An alloy is a partial or complete solid solution of one or more elements in a metallic matrix." But as I've learned in a non-scientific sense, when you melt a bunch of metals and mix 'em together, you've got an alloy.
The most obvious ways are:
Why is traffic engineering needed?
You need traffic engineers to design road/highway systems that are effective and safe.
What is it bauxite used to produce?
Calcined bauxite is commonly used for applications requiring a high coefficient of friction. Skid resistant race tracks and highways for example.
What were some of the spectroscopes uses?
to investigate stars and there light fingerprint that every star has that we can only see through spectroscopes
What two ways does a fireplace heat a room?
By convection (air warmed by the fire circulates through the room) and radiation (infrared energy given off by the fire is transmitted directly, warming objects in line-of-sight of the fire).
What is the weight of a four by eight sheet of 0.5 inch drywall?
when asking this question you first need to take into account that plywood comes in different thicknesses therefore weight per particualr thickness of sheet plywood will vary-- in my opinion/ without fact and research / a sheet of 1/2 inch plywood may way about 16 lbs. while a 3/4 inch plywood sheet may way 70 lbs.
How do you know how much torque your electric impact wrench is putting out?
You can never get exact torque, but with a little practice you can come close.
first, set your gun on it's min setting and you compressor on max rated for that gun. tighten a bolt, removing the gun the moment it starts to slip. Use a torque wrench to verify the torque on the bolt.
second, do this for the next two setting on your gun. and mark down all values.
Third, reduce the air pressure on your compressor by 10psi and repeat the steps above, always writing down the values.
four, reduce your air pressure by another 10 psi and repeat.
Eventually you will have a chart of approximate torque delivery.
Five, repeat all steps above to verify consistency.
The key is two fold,
always remove the gun at the same time for all settings.
always make sure you gun is getting the same air pressure for each stage selected
What is the real life application of isometric drawing?
In real life application, isometric drawing is used in the design of the video games.
What are the pharmaceutical applications of gravimetric analysis?
Specific gravity is relating of the density of an object to the density of water. In a pharmacy setting specific gravity becomes important when measuring the amount of a powder to the amount of water.
A diverging lens only produces a virtual image because the light rays never do what?
Converges (APEX)
What is the relationship between science and engineering?
Engineering is applied Science and technology. Engineers use different kinds of science (chemistry, physics, biology) and apply them to accomplish something.
Here are some examples.
Chemistry~ Chemists learned that a material's property (such as metal) can be changed by adding different materials. For example melting copper together with tin makes bronze. By adding the tin and copper in different amounts they will get a weaker or stronger bronze. Chemists also learned that bronze is corrosion resistant (resists rusting)
Engineers then use that base knowledge. For example engineers will make pipes or an underwater device from bronze because they know it resists rust. They will pick what kind of bronze they need based on how strong that part needs to be.
Hope that answered your question.
What are some of the top schools for Engineering in the US?
The best one is The US News Ranking. The USNews website gives a link for finding top three schools in each engineering discipline for free. For more, you can subscribe. Else, you can look at the general rankings---- THES ranking, QS ranking and so on. Just google it
Well you see the first Apple was found back in the 1600's. It happened when Sir Isaac Newton was sitting under a tree. An apple fell off the tree. Thinking that it was some sort of witchcraft, he grabbed an axe and chopped down the tree.
That was when they found apple.
What is a device in which work output equals work input?
A perfectly efficient machine, which doesn't exist in the natural world. The reason it doesn't exist is because any kind of work gives off energy byproducts (for instance, heat differential, friction, so on and so forth). Kind of like a perpetual motion device (which you could make by linking the outputs to the inputs on a perfectly efficient machine).
ideal machine
What are the advantages of open end winding induction motor over conventional induction motor?
Open ended induction motor - i assume you are talking about split phase induction motor. With these motors old style speed controlling method using external resistors can be used. However this is now obsolete.
How long does it take to pump fuel into the fuel tanks on a Boeing 747 plane.?
About 8 hours. The B747-200 had a fuel capacity of 330,000 lbs and used approximately 25,000 lbs per hour. The USAF E-4 Airborne Command Post is a highly modified B747-200 that has in-flight refueling capability and extra tank for engine oil and it can fly 3 days without landing.
In which country is diesel made?
While diesel fuel is commonly made from petroleum, there are also non-petroleum alternatives. These alternatives include biodiesel, GTL diesel, and BTL diesel.
What is the starting material for nuclear fission?
You must not ask "what element", but "what isotope". Uranium-235 is one example of an ISOTOPE that is appropriate for nuclear fission. Uranium-238 is the same for chemical reactions, but for purposes of nuclear reactions, different isotopes must be considered to be different types of atoms.
What should an effective development plan contain?
An effective development plan should factor in the effects on the environment and how some of them can be reduced. For example, a mine shaft should have a plan for rehabilitation after it is depleted.
What are the internal parts of CPU?
