What steps were taken towards peace in the Arab-Israeli conflict?
Are you being serious in asking this question? what peace? No offense but the Israelites are horrible monsters that pick on Arabs.
Arabs have tried to make peace, but the only thing they get in return is spit on their faces... The Jews basically imprison and mass murder the Palestinians, not to mention had taken away their homeland, because some fictious God says its theirs (well at least its written in their Torah that their god had said this)... These Israelites have done hundreds of times worst things to the Arabs than what the Nazis had ever done to the Jews (If the Nazis ever did do anything to the Jews, since there isn't much proof)...
I have respect for all cultures, races and religions. I don't hate Jews (if some think I do, one of my best friends is Jewish) but the Israelite government which is Jewish has broken too many war crimes against humanity and should be brought to trial, though unfortunately that wont be happening anytime soon because the Media makes the Israelites look like Angels, and don't show this to the public. Plus the American Government would protect them, like they do to the Pope and the Catholic church, who should also be on trial for secretly having Priest be able to molest children without being caught...
It depends on the war, but the most famous case of Iraq bombing Israel was in 1991 during the Persian Gulf War of 1990-1991. The idea was to goad Israel into joining the United Nations coalition attacking Iraq. While this might sound counter-intuitive since this would give Iraq another enemy, the entrance of Israel into the war would alienate the Arab members of the coalition. Saudi Arabia, whence many of the attacks on Iraq came, publicly made clear that it would withdraw support for the war if Israel joined. The loss of Saudi Arabia as a US ally in the Persian Gulf War would be more devastating than the gain of Israel. Israel did not join the war at the US's urging as much as it wanted to for this reason.

Explain the political significance of Israel and Turkey to the Middle East?
Israel and Turkey are regional powers in the Middle East. Both nations have strong economies and powerful militaries. Additionally, they both have strong relations with NATO and the West in general. Finally, they are both non-Arab and generally secular with some religious parties. These two countries serve as a counterweight in the Middle East to Arab States and more Islamist States.
Why is Israel important to Muslims?
In terms of religious significance, the key Muslim holy site in Israel/Palestine is the Dome of the Rock Shrine and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the Old City of Jerusalem. The holiness of this place is due to being the spot where Mohammed ascended to the sky and talked to God and the previous Prophets.
However, there are also minor Muslim holy sites scattered throughout the area such as the Cave of the Patriarchs (where Abraham is buried), the Tomb of Jethro (which is more a Druze holy site now than a Muslim holy site, but still important), and several other minor places. However, Israel as a contiguous plot of land has no Muslim religious significance that parallels the Jewish idea that Israel as a contiguous plot of land was their assignment. In fact, the Qur'an actually argues in 5:20-5:21 that the Jewish claim to Israel is the correct one.
However, for Palestinians, most of whom are Muslims, there is a strong attachment to the land due a personal and ancestral connection to the land. In many cases, their ancestors had lived in that territory for centuries as Levantine or Shamite Arabs under Turkish Occupation. Israel is important to them because it was where they, their parents, or their grandparents used to live and now no longer do. In solidarity with the Palestinians, Muslims around the world argue on behalf of the Palestinians and concern themselves with finding a solution acceptable to Palestinian sensibilities. This protesting and advocacy is condoned by the governments of almost all Muslim-majority countries since it prevents those people from focusing that same spirit of advocacy towards the myriad of domestic problems that those governments have no intent of solving.
What does the Israel flag have to do with the Holocaust?
The symbol of David in the flag was the same as that which the Nazis made the Jews in Europe wear on their clothing as a badge of Jewish identity.
Explain the significance of the Balfour Declaration for Canada?
The Balfour Declaration had no significance for Canada; it was an agreement to provide for the establishment of a Jewish National Homeland in what would become Mandatory Palestine.
The Balfour Declaration was the first promise by the British Empire to give the Jewish people a national home in Palestine. It was the first major success of the Zionist Movement and led to increased pressure by Jews to immigrate to the territory and set the foundations of a new Jewish State-to-be. As the Zionists worked to create a Jewish state, the support of one of the world's largest powers, that was soon to take over Palestine, was crucial. This also changed the future trajectory of Israel/Palestine as a region, allowing the seeds of Israel's creation to be sown.
There is no connection whatsoever. One-letter differences are like comparing BOB and JOB, or ANNE and ANNA: it can mean whatever you want it to mean. It means nothing anyway, because if you have two extremes one cancels the other out.
How did the State of Israel begin?
President Manuel Roxas of the Philippines became part of the history book of Israel when he decided to recognize the country as an independent state. He instructed then Secretary Carlos P. Romulo, the Philippine Representative to the U.N to vote in favor of the independence of Israel. The vote of the Filipino Representative (Carlos P. Romulo) broke the tie between those for and those against Israel's independence.
Israel received support from France and the United Kingdom before receiving support from the United States. The Arab Nations were primarily supported by the Soviet Union. The Western Powers and the Soviets used the Israeli-Arab Conflict as a place where they could test their weaponry and have proxy wars.
Does the Negev Desert produce crops?
By itself - not really, except for the desert flowers after flash-rains a few times each winter. But with the Israeli innovation of drip irrigation, plus the usage of climate-controlled greenhouses and/or shade-canopies, the answer is yes. The only limitations on these methods are the costs of setting up the infrastructure, labor etc. Not all crops are financially worthwhile to grow there. Also, only a limited range of crops can relatively easily grow in the Negev due to the dryness and high temperatures. Climate-control can only go so far before its costs become prohibitive.
Israel was created as a nation with a Jewish majority and it has laws that make special provisions favoring Jewish immigration. As such, it is a Jewish nation. The largest religious minority in Israel are Muslims, with Christians coming in third place. The Israeli government recognizes Jewish, Isamic and Christian authority over religious matters such as marriage and divorce.
