I have an 07 Equinox and for me to replace mine, I had to pull off the trim surrounding the radio. The trim also had the buttons for the windows and temp controls. I used a thin flathead screwdriver and pryed upwards below the gear shifter and evenly pulled out on the trim. There wasn't screws just clips. Then remove the (4) 9/32 screws holding the radio in and slide the radio out, unplug the harness and antenna and install in the reverse direction. I switched mine with one i bought off the internet but it came up displaying LOCKED and now I have to go to the dealer and get it unlocked.
My wife has an '04 so I hope this helps you: get to the station you want. Hit the set button on the far right. Tap the number you want to set it at, or tap it twice to set it to the next number.
I mean that it acts like this:

6 7 8 9 10 (when the first number is tapped twice)
so that you will actually be able to program 10 stations.

4. Disconnect the wire connectors
5. Disconnect coaxial cable from radio (Non-Digital)
6. Remove radio
Install is just opposite from removal
screw tighten to 14 lb in, don't use paint, lube, corrosion inhibitors, locking compound
Make sure all clips are in place on the bezel

I have a 2005 Spectra...I have been told they are the same with removal of the radio.
First, remove the two screws located in the plastic trim, just above the clear lens of the speedometer assembly. These two screws are the only things holding the plastic in that goes all the way around the stereo and climate controls. Carefully insert a flat tool (flathead screwdriver) between the trim surrounding the radio and dashboard. The trim will easily pop off. Be careful not to break any of the spring action clips that hold the trim snug to the dash. Use a Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the radio from the mount you see, four screws in all. The radio slides out from behind the trim and you unplug two wires and the wiring harness. There's a little tab on the top of the harness that needs to be depressed. Once it's pushed in, this should slide right out and you are ready for a new stereo.
