Can a 3-year-old be diagnosed with ADHD?

It's probably unrelated to AD/HD, especially since this appears to be the only "symptom" she has. She may not be interested in the way you present the task. Rote learning may not be her preferred style of learning (normal kids differ widely in this respect). She may have vision problems. She may have visual-speech integration problems. She may be generally "slow". She may find the task "boring" compared with other things which attract her attention. Failure to learn simple material is not usually a sign of AD/HD. My son learned to read by the age of two and a half - and he's severely AD/HD. The problems come later with more complex problems. It's difficult for an AD/HD kid to selectively apply what they have learned, refrain from applying what they know inappropriately or keep sufficiently focused for long enough periods to learn something which does not easily hold their attention. This is when IQ/acheivement mis-matches occur. I went through school with teachers asking me why, since I tested so high on short IQ-type measures, I failed to win an "Honours Prize" in any of my 13 years of elementary, secondary and "college" schooling. I didn't have the answer to that one. It was presumed that I was "lazy", especially since I began to top the class in some subjects in the upper high school "college" years. (The last two years of Australasian compulsary schooling systems are equivalent to US Junior College or the International Bachalareate.) **You might find non drug alternative, the Australian Bush Flower Essences combination Cognis (for short attention span and better retention and recall)

Does ADHD help with being a coast guard?

If you can use the energy and creativity connected with hyperactivity towards a career you love, then it is an advantage.

Could you have ADHD if you can't concentrate and focus and you frequently space out and get off track and hate reading directions?

Extreme difficulty with sustained mental effort, focus, and staying on task is one of the hallmarks of ADD/ADHD. That said, I'd say it's likey that you have ADD/ADHD, but only a neurologist can diagnose you. I would highly recommend that you get tested. There are many of effective treatments available.

Could you have ADHD if you pay good attention in a class you really like but not in a class you hate?

Probably not. One tends to pay attention, and fare better in subjects that one likes. I myself used to day dream a lot, and downright fall asleep in classes I absolutely hated.

How do you convince your parents you have ADD?

If you are doing bad and school and don't know why then that is usually a sign of ADD. Also if you have dark marks under your eyes then it is also another sign. I wouldn't try to convince them if you don't really have it though.

Is it possible for people with ADHD to be unable to focus on computers to Is it possible for people with ADHD to be unable to or have trouble focusing on computers and video games?

Well, I have ADHD myself. I know from personal experience that after a while, the computer or the video game I'm playing isn't really interesting if someone is watching T.V in the same room or doing crafts. Yes, it is possible, but the thing that I have found really helpful is to just listen to music while I do these things. I can even find myself concentrating to my teacher at school while listening to music and getting a really good grade. Hope that helps! :)

Could you have ADD if you can't pay attention but you get good grades?

Yes, it is possible. I did it all through high school. I was always in advanced/honors classes. However, school was never very difficult for me, it was boring. I was able to goof off in class and still pass the tests and do most of the homework without doing too much studying.

If you are the kind of person who has to study and actually work for your grades, ADD is going to be a major drawback. Otherwise, if you are like I was, it should be no problem.

But, either way, I would recommend you see a psychiatrist for treatment. I don't know how common this is, but as I've gotten older (I'm in my thirties now), my ADD seems to have gotten worse. At least it did until I starting getting treatment. Adderall works for me, but there are other medications and methods of treatment available. I figure, why should anyone have to suffer and 'deal with it' if they don't have to?

Good Luck.

Definitely! The importance of treatment is not to be ignored as other areas of your life may be difficult such as organization, remembering everyday things and relationships with others. I also have found some symptoms getting worse as i get older. You may also be unchallenged in school work which leads to inattentiveness as opposed to suffering from add. It would be better to know than to worry about it all the time. All the best,

**You might want to look for an alternative non drug way to be able to pay attention better, look at the higher potential you would have.

How does ADD affect sleep?

If you have Attention Deficit Disorder than there brain cant sleep and restore that well as regular humans.

Its pretty scary you might even black out when you Wake up and fall asleep again.

What are the down sizes in giving your children medication for add adhd?

Medications like Adderall contain amphetamines. In some states Desoxyn(methamphetamine) is prescribed. So obviously children could abuse or become dependent on the medication. However, if doses are followed strictly as prescribed this is very unlikely. I personally skip my doses some weekends just to prevent dependence, and it also helps keep tolerance low, so doses don't have to be increased.

It can also cause insomnia, especially if take late in the day. It also suppresses appetite, so your child may not get necessary nutrients. To combat this make sure your child gets lot of healthy foods like veggies, fruit, and lean meat and multi-vitamins may be an option to consider.

Can you pass a pre employment drug screen if you take your prescribed adhd medication daily?

Absolutely. That is the point of obtaining a prescription. The drug may be street quality, if not better, but if you get it prescribed, its perfectly legal. Just make sure you can prove you are prescribed.

You will fail the test but if you show your employer the prescription they will let it go. I'm pretty sure they are required to by law.

Do people with ADHD get dizzy?

Not really..kinda depends on how light headed the person is

Is it possible that a 14-year-old could have ADD?

It's certainly possible. Many children, even as young as 5 get diagnosed but you have to consider all the criteria for diagnosis carefully. Ask yourself, could a suspected ADD symptom also be just a normal symptom of childhood/puberty? Absolutely. But it really isn't possible for someone who is not a trained mental health professional to diagnose ADD at that age. A doctor or therapist should be able to identify what are real ADD symptoms and what are merely normal or typical adolescent behaviours. If you suspect your child has ADD, seek professional advice ASAP. There is no point for a child to have to go through that if they don't have to. I was miserable at that age and all throughout high school. My grades suffered, even though my test scores proved again and again that I was gifted...I just couldn't concentrate in class or focus on homework and studying. And you might be surprised by the sheer number and variety of symptoms that can be part and parcel of ADD and related disorders.

What is the definition of Lortab?

lortab is very similar to vicodin, just the dosing of Tylenol to hydrocodone is different. hydrocodone is a codeine derivative usually used for pain. this drug is a middle of the road, in strength, it is much much stronger than anything over the counter but not as strong as a percocet or a Oxycontin type. however it is still addictive.

Can Adderall mixed with alcohol cause violence?

Honestly, in my experiences, adderall and alcohol leads to a general enhancement of the effects minus the violence. Granted, this may change for different personalities (for instance, there are different types of drunks etc.) So I highly doubt a correlation between taking adderall and drinking alcohol can lead to becoming violent.
