Air Compressors

A machine for generating compressed air, typically for use by air-powered tools or paint sprayers. The compressor takes in air at atmospheric pressure, and increases it to any pressure between 1 psi above atmospheric, and 10,000 psi above atmospheric. Air compressor motors can range from fractions of a horsepower, to multiple thousands of horsepower.

Can the air suspension on a 2000 town car be manually accessedAlso is there a compressor and where is it located?

The air bag suspension ''can'' be aired up manually if that's what you mean, first buy an air hose nozzle that goes to an air compressor and a hose clamp, then go to a gas station, open your hood, the driver's side front corner is where you will find the black air compressor with a black rubber hose coming out the end ,cut that hose ,open your trunk ,turn your air bag compressor switch on ,put some change in the air machine and turn it on connect the air nozzle to end of the compressor hose stick the air nozzle into the end of the rubber hose you cut you will see the back side of the car rising rapidly ,take nozzle out when you reach your desired height, clamp the end of the hose,go to the trunk and turn the air bag compressor switch to off ,remember this only a temporary fix! My 2000 t.c. Only stayed up for 3 or 4 days before i had to air it up again but i never used a clamp neither so with the clamp I'm sure it should hold the air longer, good luck

How do you install an air compressor for my 2003 Pontiac aztek?

Where is the air compressor in a Nissan Exterra?

The AC compressor is a mechanical pump that is driven by a belt and is attached to your vehicles engine. This device in general is designed to pump fluid that would flow in a closed loop through the various parts of a system. What an auto AC compressor pumps is the refrigerant, which is the main element responsible for absorbing all the heat that accumulates inside yourvehicle cabin. The Nissan AC compressor is designed to operate with the other cooling components in your automobile. Generally, the regular AC compressor lies in the logical center of the air conditioning system, between its high pressure side and low pressure side. From the low pressure side, particularly from the evaporator or the accumulator in some cases, the compressor sucks in low pressure refrigerant gas. It will then compress this gas, increasing the pressure and the temperature along the way. After that, the high pressure gas would then be discharged to the AC condenser, which is a major component of the high pressure side of the air conditioning system. From the condenser, the cooled refrigerant would proceed to the other parts of the system and then to the evaporator, thus circulating in a closed loop. The AC compressor is an important component of the air conditioning system of your vehicle. Without a properly functioning one, the air conditioning system will not work as reliably as it should. Thanks to a number of reliable parts that you can find here, like the Nissan AC compressor that is specifically-designed for your Nissan model, there is now a chance for your vehicles AC system to perform well and better.

How often should the air ride suspension compressor come on on a Lincoln Navigator?

My answer is purely a comparisson to my 98 Navigator, everytime you start the vehicle, it's going to come on (with the radio off you might hear it) to fill the rear bags and lift the back of the truck up. When you cut the vehicle off, it sounds like it's still pumping but automatically stops momentarilly. This is only so for short trips like to the grocery store. On longer trips again with the radio off, you might hear it pump up but when you eventually cut off the vehicle you will not hear it still pumping since it takes about 5mins to fill these bags. With the ignition on off position, the vehicle will leak off the air even in short a period as filling up on gas, i guess the manufacturer didn't think that consumers will make short trips every once in a while and the compressor will soon drive them crazy. If you make too many short trips, may I recomend turning off the air suspension. This helps not to overwork the compressor and break it, but contrary the air suspension light will stay on until you turn the switch on again. The switch is on the passenger side front below the dash board on the far right corner, it is really hidden and also labelled. Your owners manual can explain this further. Good luck with your decision.

If your compressor is turning on all the time and your car is starting to go down you have a bigger problem than just the compressor. Keep in mind that this air ride is a tricky thing with all kinds of parts in there that could go bad and cost you money. Save yourself headache and time and money and call Strtumasters. I got a non air conversion kit for my Navigator about a year ago. I love the ride and I don't have to worry about this air ride again.

We bought two compressors before we decided to save money and do away with the air all together. Strutmasters saved us a lot of time and money. Check them out!

Why can't a paintball tank be filled from a standard air compressor?

you can... have fun.... send pictures - cos the pressure coming out is about 150 PSI and might just blow your teeth into the back of your skull, but if needed, you CAN (in small bursts) breath directly from the tank. at depth burst air into the cup of your hand and breath indirectly off of that. but it is SOOO much easier and more fun to SCUBA if you have a regulator on the tank to bring the pressure down to Ambient pressure which is constantly changing by depth.

Why doesn't the air compressor clutch engage on 1995 GMC Jimmy?

there is a low pressure switch located on the evaporation can. Its not important to find this, just know that its there, because most of the time, its a simple case of being a little low on freon. If you are a couple of pounds low, the pressure switch picks up on this, and wont allow the compressor to engage as to prevent damage. i have lost a pund or so over time, and topped it off with a recharge kit from the auto parts store (30 bucks) and never had another problem. But, it could be a major leak, or just a simple fuse. Look at the obvious first!

Where is the suspension button or switch on a Lincoln Navigator?

On the 1998-2002 it is located on the passenger side front up behind the dash board.

On the 2003-2006 it is at the rear of the vehicle. Open the rear hatch, behind the driver's side 3rd row seat, on the side wall with the rear AC blower, is an access door, open it, the switch is in there.

On the 2007-up the main computer controls the suspension, turning it off is done through the message center.

You have to gain access thru the passenger side wheel well, remove the liner and look towards the front and you will see the small compressor.

Car air compressor squealing?

I have just gone through 4, yes four compressors, condensor and belts on a 2000 grand vitara. I was told finally today the reason the compressors contine to squeal with each one is that the system has rust fragments in it from ( running it dry ?)and locking up the compressor ie.... the squeal, the belts have also been replaced and to No surprise the whole thing needs to be replaced at a tune of $2, 500 The company that we took it to spoke with the manufactor of the compressors and stated the only way to relieve the SQUEAL was to replace the whole airconditioning system due to the fragments entering the whole system. Hope this helps

1992 Lexus ES 300 Air-conditioning compressor does not Engage?

You will have to figure out why:

This the 90% of the time failur: Is there Freon in the system, if there is not a minimum pressure, usually 17 PSI, the compressor will not run.

How do you bypass the air compressor on a 1992 Chevy Silverado?

Hey Anthony==It isn't as easy as it sounds. You can install a belt for a car without a/c but you have to have an idler pulley installed. If the compressor is bad but the clutch is good, simply unplug the compressor so it won't run. If the clutch is burned and noisy, a trip to the wrecking yard might be in order and you can find a car without a/c. GoodluckJoe

yes, you can buy a pulley that goes in place of the a/c compressor so u can run the stock belt.

im a female and it's SO EASY i did it with NO help and NO directions at ALL

How much do air compressors for cars cost?

more than you will ever earn -->NO!

You can convert a vehicle's air conditioning compressor to be an air compressor. You just need to keep it properly lubricated, because it does require lubrication in order to function properly. You also need the right fittings. On the inlet you should have an air filter, somewhere on the outlet line you need an air/oil separator to collect oil vapors from the compressor, then after that you should have a check valve to prevent air from going back through the compressors when it isn't running. Then you tube it to a tank.

You'll need to get some oil for the compressor and add at least and ounce of oil to the inlet for each hour of run time.

Less than $150 for the compressor usually if you buy it from a salvage yard, or used online.

Where is the air ride suspension compressor for a 1994 Lincoln Town Car located and how do you install it?

How do you replace a compressor for the air conditioning in a 1996 4X4 350 Chevy Z71?

Being a Licensed Mechanic in Canada , and the fact it is illegal to open a air conditioning system to the atmosphere. I would suggest taking your truck to a reputable autoshop that has a proper AC recovery system .To at the least remove the refidgerant from the system before you start . Then you start by removing your electrical connectors to your clutch and pressure switch . Unhook your AC lines ,generally one bolt holding a flange with your two lines attatched. Then remove the bolts holding the compressor . Follow the instructions with the new compressor adding the proper amount of oil ,turning the pulley 15-20 times to ensure oil is through the compressor . Dont forget to install new seals and put oil on them before installation. Reinstall all components and take back to the shop to have the system refilled.

Can you eliminate the air compressor on a 95 Achieva and put in a serpentine belt for no air conditioning you have gone through 3 ac compressors and want to bypass or take out ac compressor completely?

Yes you can if you determine the proper length belt. You can also just unplug the A/C compressor clutch. If you want to,you can just remove the compressor, open it up & remove just enough of the innerds so that the pulley still turns propperly, but yet the compressor is worthless as far as the a/c is concerned. that way you don't have to worry about belt length-just use the same size reccomended for your car. This is something that I have done myself many times B4. Master James

How do you replace Air compressor on a 2001 mercury cougar?

Unplug the electrical plug to the compressor.

Remove the Serpentine belt from the AC pulley.

If there is no freon, go ahead and remove the 10mm bolt that secures the manifold to the compressor (it connects the hoses to the compressor).

There are three 10mm Bolts that mount the compressor to the block. Remove these.

Now the fun part, removing the compressor from underneath the vehicle... Try removing the oil filter. This should give you room to slide it out and down through the bottom..

Can you bypass the air conditioning compressor on a Chevy Malibu?

How do you change the air conditioner compressor on a 1995 Dodge Caravan?

if you havent ever changed one before then you shouldn't mess with it, the freon inside the compressor is poisionest, it needs to be drained, new compressor installed, filled with dye to test for leaks, drained again and then re-fill with freon.
