Why would antifreeze leak from the cap?
Probably because the cap is worn out. They're cheap, so you might as well replace it. Look at where the seal touches the radiator while you're at it and make sure there's no crud interfering with making a good seal. In a modern car the fluid level goes all the way to the top of the radiator, and the overflo gets caught in the bottle, so if the seal isn't good it will leak more or less all the time, at least until you've lost so much coolant that the radiator is no longer full. The gasket is probably damaged or worn. Replace the cap and it should be ok. Caps are supposed to be able to typically hold 12 to 15 PSI, depending on the manufacturer. If you're building more pressure than that, you probably have a problem with the cooling system and will need to investigate further.

Well, I'm NOT a blonde.
With the engine running, open the hood and you should see an opaque white overflow tank with green (hopefully) antifreeze in it. On the side of the tank are level marks - one for an engine COLD level and the other for the engine WARM or HOT level. Since the engine will be WARM / HOT while you are adding the antifreeze you'll be using this mark as your reference. Open the plastic flap on the top of the overflow tank and slowly add antifreeze until it reaches the lower edge of the WARM/HOT mark on the tank. Close the flap on the tank to preserve system pressure and prevent antifreeze from spraying all over the engine compartment.
*** Under no circumstances are you to add coolant directly through the radiator. The system is under pressure and must remain closed. The overflow tank is the only way to safely add antifreeze/coolant to the system.
Why would coolant be leaking from the exhaust pipe?
That's exactly what it is, water. The products of combustion are water and carbon dioxide. While the exhaust stays hot the water comes out as high temperature steam, usually you don't even notice it. When the exhaust pipe and/or outside temperature is cold enough the exhaust will cool and some of the water vapor will condense into steam and possibly even water that drips from a weep hole in the muffler. If you're seeing a little water drip from the muffler, everything is working as designed.

Probably no damage, especially if you only filled the reservoir with it and not the whole cooling system. Use a turkey baster and suck up what's in the reservoir, dispose of properly. Then refill with coolant. I'm really not sure if the washer fluid will screw with the various rust inhibitors or lubricants key to the coolant. If you're really concerned, just flush the coolant and refill the system.

Because the Heater Core is Bad. Are you sure its antifreeze that's leaking? It could just be condensation dripping off the a/c - least that's what my mechanic told me.
Why does coolant boil out of radiator?
When the water runs out of the radiator, it either means that the radiator is cracked, which means that its building steam inside your radiator. building the steam inside your radiator raises the temperature of your engine causing it to overheat and steam up on you.

usually coolant leaks come from bad gaskets... or a bad water pump.. i would say drain the system and run water through the radiator (do NOT drive with water in the radiator, your engine will surely overheat!) and see if you can spot where the coolant is coming from... if it is coming from the engine block then you might have bad gaskets.. if not then it's the water pump.

ANS 2 - More likely is that it's leaking while the engine is running and hot. Check at the base of waterpump. Also any hoses to heater,etc. If you don't see any leaks and it still leaks it may be the head gasket. ( Let's hope not.)

Your thermostat has nothing to do with your coolant light. Your thermostat, if bad, would make your van run extremely hot, or not heat up at all. Your coolant light is probably a bad sending unit or ground.
Why did i replace the top radiator hose filled with antifreeze and the engine still smokes?
Because there is antifreeze int he system and it takes a while to burn through.
Also replace the bottom hose too. <> If it smokes from under the hood, It has antifreeze on the engine exterior, You can wash it off. Or just drive it and it will burn off. If it smokes from the exhaust, There is engine damage.

If it starts very rough but then clears out expect either fouling of spark plugs or a mixture problem that clears up when O2 feedback becomes available.
As far as the gage showing overheating... does it show this immediately after a cold start? Have you considered actually taking its temperature with a suitable tool?
