Its an automatic that can function as a manual gearbox. Designed and engineered by Porsche. Good system, but nothing beats the third pedal.
It could be the fuel pump. Sometimes they make a high-pitched whine that might sound like a squeek.
How do you fix a loose caliper when the bolts are tight?
B. Remove brake carrier from the wheel bearing housing (if this is what you can't tighten) and rotor to be sure you can gain direct access to the brake carrier mounting bolts. Acquire the correct metric tap, probably 5 or 6 mm, you maintenance manual may give you a clue, then use the tape to clean out the threads in the brake carrier mounting holes in the wheel bearing housing which is the lower part of the strut. That should take care of the brake carrier mounting bracket to which the caliper mounts and brake pads mount.
C. Now, if you are talking about the mounting of the caliper to the brake carrier being loose, then that's a horse of an entirely different color. The caliper "floats" laterally to allow the caliper to function properly and at the same time compensate for brake pad wear. There are "guide pins" in the brake carrier to which the caliper mounts. These pins with their rubber boots are what allows or provides for the lateral movement of the caliper. Before you bolt on the caliper, make sure these guide pins move in and out of the brake carrier freely but are not so loose that they have excess play from side to side. If they don't move freely, carefully remove the rubber boots and pull the pins all the way out to clean them and their channel in the brake carrier. Now lubricate the pins with a very good heat resistent grease (I like silicon grease here), reinsert them back into the brake carrier, and now reinstall the rubber boots. It is because of these rubber boots that I like the silicon grease. Now you are ready to reinstall the caliper on the newly refurbished carrier channels and guide pins. Obviouisly, if there is a lot of "play" in the guide pins, you may have to replace the guide pins and/or the brake carrier. If you found rust when you took the boots off, there is more than an even chance that the guide pin channel channel in the brake carrier is ruined and the brake carrier and the guide pins need be replaced.
There, now you are an Audi brake expert. :-)

When should you change the timing belt on a a3?

How many miles are the 1999 Audi's typically good for?
I own an (N reg) Audi A4 1.8T with 160000 miles on the clock and still going strong. The secret is regular oil changes! I change mine about every 5000 miles or when the oil gets really black. It only costs 30-40 depending on the oil and oil filter you use. I think the above statement is right...if the oil and filter is changed regularly especially if youre doing alot of miles a month then there is no reason you cant get the car the equivilent of driving to the moon!! I have an "s" reg 1998 A4 with 182,000 miles on the clock and it still runs as clean and quiet as ever!! 5w 30 oil and filter from Halfords (UK) is about £27.00

What is a bad timing belt on an Audi?
Unfortunately I fell victim to a "bad timing belt" in my 98 Audi A4. I guess the belt becomes worn and breaks. It ultimately causes the whole engine to run out of sync, leading to damaged cylinder heads and most other parts. Luckily I had all of my service records so Audi payed for all the new engine parts. If you got a letter in the mail from Audi then go get your timing belt checked ASAP.

What is the S gear on an Audi Automatic Gear shifter?
it is for the ejector seat. Seriously though, it stands for "sport" and when you drive with it there it lets the engine rev higher for any given speed under acceleration when compared with "d" position. So say at 40MPH in "d" the indicated rpm might be 3000 and in "s" at 40 mph it might be 4000. Finally, at a higher rpm your car will make more power (an eat more gas) so use "s" at the track or for a quick getaway.
Why engine smokes and smells after adding antifreeze to 2001 Audi?

second to more directly answer the question..
Either the lead to the radio Memory is hooked to the ignition incorrectly.
Losses power when turned to the "power Starter" position.
OR
The battery is so weak that when under load it doesn't have enough "juice" to power the memory wire from its "normal" position.
Looking close at the context of your question and taking out the "I Dont know anything factor..."
I am guessing it is clear you have an after market radio hooked up and it is not hooked up correctly. See Memory wire in your direction (usually Yellow)
or check for a blown fuse or bad wire with an Audi Radio. (installed by the factory)
More on "SAFE MODE":
***When you loose power to the memory the radio will stop remembering the CODE...***
This is a safety feature in Audi(s) to reduce the number of radios stolen around the world.
Great feature, YES and NO...
not many Audi radios are stolen because of it.
