Sniff it. Butter gone bad will have a rancid, stinky smell. If it still smells sweet, it's good to eat.

of course i do accept to immigrate to a foreign country for the following reasons;

first, by doing so you are going to discover things unbelievable especially for those who are still young in the age of twenty up. For example, i have come to Belgium for about two months, at the beginning i found it so difficult to integrate because i have come from a world which is totally different from this world. How do you get homemade granola bars to stick together?

I find this works best.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

On a sheet plan lined with tin foil mix:

2 cups rolled oats

3/4 cup wheat germ

3/4 cup seeds (I recommend the following)

1/4 raw hulled sunflower seeds

1/4 raw hulled pumpkin seeds

1/4 flax seed

1 cup chopped nuts (almonds and walnuts taste great together)

Toast in the oven for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

In a sauce pan bring the following to a gentle simmer:

2/3 cup light brown sugar

1/2 cup honey

4 tbsp unsalted butter (NO MARGARINE)

2 tsp real vanilla extract

1/2 tsp salt

In a large bowl mix toasted mixture with 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional), 8-8.5oz of chopped dried fruit. Then mix in the melted mixture.

Line a 11"x13" baking dish with the tin foil from the sheet pan and spray with cooking spray. Smooth out mixture into the pan and press flat. Let stand 2-3 hours before cutting.

What can be substituted for eggs in vegan baking recipes?

To replace 1 egg -

  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed plus 3 tablespoons warm water, leave for 10 minutes before using.
  • 1/2 banana, mashed or blended.
  • 3 Tablespoons applesauce.
  • 1/4 cup soy yogurt.
  • 2 tablespoons rice or soy milk.
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Ener-G Egg Replacer plus 2 tablespoons water.
  • 1/4 c vegetable oil.
  • 1/4 c mashed potatoes, turnips,squash, zucchini or pumpkin.
  • 2 Tablespoons water, plus one tablespoon vegetable oil, plus 2 tsp baking powder.

You have just one alternative, buy a packet of egg substitute from the supermarket for your baking.

From BBC website: Tony Bishop Weston from the Vegan Society recommends a number of ingredients that can be used as egg replacements. He says, "Cocoa butter, xantham gum, agar agar, arrowroot, locust bean gum, carob, vegetarian gelatine, vegan egg replacer, soya flour, banana, potato flour or chocolate all work well".

I use soya flour - about the same volume as egg.

Try ENER-G EGG REPLACER (see related link below). Ener-G is economical, easy to use, gluten-free, and certified Kosher. Even if you're not vegan, using egg replacer while baking will help lower your cholesterol intake and, as one box is the equivalent of 100 eggs, its a good investment as well.

What is milkmaid can you use a substitute?

Condensed milk is a milk product obtained by evaporating part of water of whole milk, or fully or partly skimmed milk, with or without the addition of sugar. The term 'condensed milk' is commonly used when referring to full cream sweetened condensed milk whereas the term evaporated milk is generally used while referring to full cream unsweetened condensed skim milk. Skimmed milk products are known as sweetened condensed skim and unsweetened condensed skim milk respectively. The ratio of concentration of milk solids is about 1: 2.5 full cream milk products and 1: 3 for the preparation of sweetened condensed skim milk.

The nutritive value of the sweetened and unsweetened condensed milk is very high. Both of them are rich in fat and fat soluble vitamins viz. A, D, E & K and body building proteins, bone forming minerals and energy giving lactose. While sweetened condensed milk is especially high in energy giving sucrose because of the added sugar.

Condensed milk is used in numerous dessert dishes in many countries.

What is used to measure flour particle size. What is the screened dish called?

Chances are it is called a sieve. It used to be the most common size characterization method and by many is still considered the gold standard, however recent advances in size characterization have replaced it, due to ease and speed. The way it works is that the sieve has holes a preset size and particles that are smaller can pass through, while particles that are bigger remain in the sieve. By stacking sieves of different hole (mesh) sizes one can determine the mass weighted particle size distribution.

Should you uncover the turkey while it is baking in the oven?

No, in fact the cover will help prevent spillover of juice and help the bird be more moist when done. Many people use the brown in bag because they like the nice brown color of the bird you get when it is uncovered but also like it to be moist.

Can cocoa substitute for dark chocolate?

Sometimes, but it is always best just to use that the recipe calls for.

This can be used if absolutely necessary.

5.5 fl oz cocoa

3 fl oz sugar

1.5 fl shortening oz shortening (although unsalted butter tastes better in my opinion).

This will make the equivalent of 8 ounces of "melted dark chocolate" though it is actually only about 7 ounces in volume in its liquid form.
