How do you clean a cooking pan with baked on sugar?

To clean baked on sugar off a pan, if it is safe to use on a hob/stove top/element fill it with water above the level of the material to be removed and bring to a simmer(low boil). Keep it at a simmer and top up the water as required.

Scrape or scrub away at the material as it softens or loosens. This may take some time. Use a heat resistant scrubbing pad and a utensil to push it under the hot water (such as a wooden spoon).

Be careful not to splash the boiling water.
