I disagree. Look at 12 VAC 5-125-100 in the Virginia Administrative Code. Anyone selling a used mattress is supposed to have sanitized before the sale is even offered.

Therefore, while a store must sanitize beddings and mattresses, the private individual selling his own mattress does not.

Mattress and tag/labels have two different functions. while the former aims at your comfort the other expresses it's preparedness to take responsibilities for not providing comfort which it promised, caused health risks such as skin cancer and so on. It's label if removed would stop you from not claiming damages suffered should one arises as the tag represents their signature of authorization for healthy usage for all purchasers of the product . Bugs that live in your beds and or mattreses?
That's a loaded question, there are a lot of bugs that can/do live in your mattress/beds, many too small to see. Bedbugs which were once almost eradicated are making a comeback I hear, there are also cooties, and even allergic reactions that will act like a bug/bite. If you are actually seeing bugs, catch one/two and have an exterminator look at it, if you have bugs in your beds they are likely breeding elsewhere also, and short of a pro, or fumigating yourself, almost impossible to get rid of.
Sorry if it sounds creepy, but you don't want to know how many bugs you can't see there are :D
