Brake Fluid and Lubrication

The master cylinder on a 1999 suburban is pretty easy to change. Under the dash, disconnect the clutch pedal from the cylinder rod. disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder and allow to drain into a container. Unbolt the cylinder and remove. Install the new cylinder and connect the lines and rod back up. Add new fluid, and bleed the slave cylinder to finish the installation.

You should not keep driving. Pull over when it's safe to do so and park the vehicle then call a garage.

On the drivers side of the firewall.

Open the hood and it is right in front of the steering wheel on the right side of the car ( looking from the front). Undo the cap and fill it up. Not sure how much though. Sorry

Find the source of the leak. Most likely areas are a brake line at the wheels, or the master cylinder at the upper part of the firewall in the engine compartment.

Are you sure it's the valve that's leaking. Look very closely at the ends of the brake lines I have on occasion had one that has a very small crack in the end where it is flared.

Not much. it increases stopping distance slightly while discs are wet, but they dry out pretty fast. Just tap the pedal a few times when stopping on a rainy day before you hold.
