Yes it can, depending on what amount "a tiny amount" is. The fluids in cars today are specifically designed for their purpose. Brake fluid is designed to withstand heat (minimal expansion when heated), absorb moisture and interact with other materials such as rubber and does not lubricate like power steering fluid does. Lubricating oils (engine oil, Power steering fluid, Grease) attack the things they come in contact with making them slippery, but in contact with things like Rubber seals, the rubber will expand and sooner or later cause a failure.

Nothing except cause the pads/shoes to not stop the car very well for a few seconds until the water evaporates which happens very quickly.

If it is a sealed bearing, make sure not to blow your seals out, if it is just a race bearing then you should have nothing to worry about.

On a tapered bearing, hold in in such a way as to prevent it from spinning. The force of the air can make the bearing fly apart.

In 1979 Pontiac did not make available any 455 (cubic inch) engine. The largest available was a 400 4bbl in the Pontiac Trans Am (220 net horsepower). Also the "rocket engine" description was only applicable to the Oldsmobile Division. The 455 Rocket Engine (Oldsmobile) was discontinued in 1977 where the largest engine was the 403 cubic inch Rocket Engine V8 rated at 185 net horsepower available on the 98 (a 350 cubic inch was standard) and the Toronado. It was also sold to the Buick division and available on the Riviera.

It's on the handlebars above the throttle. You will see a clear reservoir that says "lower". Unscrew the top and add your fluid to the line. (DOT 4 brake fluid only)

depends where the leak is. In the brake line or at the pump? electric or mech brakes? if its in the line you should be able to replace the line section

In the brake master cylinder , in the engine compartment , on the driver's

side , near the firewall ( it's a white plastic container , rectangular in shape

but has rounded corners , and has a thread on cap on top of it , just make sure

the top is wiped clean before removing the cap so no dirt gets in the brake fluid

( use DOT 3 ) The firewall is the metal " wall " that divides the engine

compartment from the passenger compartment

The brake fluid reservoir is attached to the master cylinder, it is located against the engine bay firewall(bulkhead) infront of the driver's seat.

I just checked mine yesterday and it is under the engine hood on the driver' s side on the far end (i.e., closer to the winshield)

check the wheel cylinder between the shoes. the rubber boots on each end can leak if they are dry rotted. also make sure it is mounted snug. if it is noticable loose the hard line could have cracked leaking fluid. if they are disc brakes the same is similar of the calipers.

Use a Turkey baster to remove all the fluid in the reservoir then use a rag to clean the reservoir of anything that remains. Now refill the reservoir with clean brake fluid.

I would also recommend that the brake system be bleed to remove the old brake fluid. As it is a recommended the Fluid should be replaced as a preventive maintenance service, and may need replacement every two years or 24,000 miles.

There is a tool available at auto parts store to help you D.I.Y this or you can take it to someone and have it done.

Open the luggage compartment lid and look on the sidewall right above where the brake pedal would be. It's a little plastic tank with a lid and two hoses coming out the bottom of it.

Anything that's considered DOT 3 or DOT 4. It'll show on the bottle whether or not it's DOT 3...Just go to your local auto parts store (Pep Boys, Advanced Auto Parts, Discount Auto Parts, Walmart, etc.) and they should have them there.

The valve is located by behind the intake manifold. It has 6 brake lines coming off of it. Two Lines for the Brake Fluid Reservoir, Two on for the back tires and Two for the Front Tires. If you have brake fluid leakage at the firewall, replace the pistons in the proportioning valve with good ones. It seems that lots out there may leak, some don't.

the leak between master cylinder and booster is where difference type of gasket is worn out depended on the type of your vehicle...older vehicle usually have flat gasket but mostly have O-ring Gasket the need to be replace. you have a bad master cylinder its leaking fluid into your booster the seal or oring is just to prevent vacuum leak change master cyl before the fluid attacks the booster and you spend another 170.00

Since machine cutting oil is used widely in many different applications, there is no set formula. Kerosene and rubbing alcohol is often used for aluminum. Regular 10 or 20 weight oil is often used for harder metals.
