How do you replace a serpentine belt and water pump pulley on a 1990 Cadillac DeVille?

I just recently changed the water pump on my dad's 1990 Cadillac Deville. It was an undertaking let me tell you. First you have to take a 1/2" ratchet and position it in the place on the belt tensioning pully and pull it toward the front of the car. This will allow you to completely remove the belt. Take note as to how it is oriented around the various pulleys and the back idler pulley. I found that even after I had removed the three bolts that hold the water pump pulley to the water pump itself, I couldn't just remove the pulley. There wasn't enough room between the pulley and the frame. I was removing the water pump anyway, so I painstakingly removed all of the water pump mounting bolts and nuts, and removed the pump with the pulley loose. There are several bolts you can't get to anyway, unless you take the pulley bolts out. I just had to move the pulley to one side or the other in order to get to the bolts under the pulley. Installing the new pump had to be done in the reverse order. The lip of the pulley catches on the water pump shaft and that keeps you from being able to remove it. There may be an easier way, but I couldn't find one. I didn't want to take a lot of parts off to just to get the pulley out of my way. It's tough, but it can be done. I have the cut up hands to prove it. I hope this info helps you.

How do you use a Slim Jim to open the door of your 1995 Cadillac Sedan Deville?

I don't think a "slim jim" works. Pry open the top of the door (a tapered piece of wood or plastic, keep it ajar with a plastic or wooden wedge. Then use a piece of very stiff wire (a straightened-out thick coat hanger for example) then push on the power lock switch to unlock door. Using a "slim jim" will just bust off clips inside the door.

Can 20 inch rims fit on a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup?

Yes you can, i run 20's on y blazer. no questions asked. Ive seen 22's on a 94 blazer. so yea with no problem they will bolt rite on with no clearance problems.

"yep, I have 20s on my 2003 Monte Carlo. No problem."

Why in the world would you want to, the integrity of the handling and comfort of you ride is diminished. I can't wait for the next tire fad to come along. You should not go bigger than 17" or 18" on your car or s-10 unless you like it to look like a cartoon!

Why is your service engine soon light blinking on your 2002 cadillac deville?

This is most likely because your Intake Plenum has a tear in it, you will need to replace upper intake gaskets and throttle body gasket (both can be purchased at Advance Auto Parts, or similar parts store, and your intake plenum which is a dealer only part, costs approximately $50 for the plenum, and $50 for the rest if you are doing it yourself it is a fairly simple job, you can check for this by spraying brake cleaner around the intake manifold and intake plenum gaskets with the engine running, if the engine rev's or stumbles this is your issue, the blinking SES light is due to un-metered air entering the system

You could also check your coolant level, a Northstar engine car is programed to switch to "Limp Home" mode when the coolant sensor senses a low coolant condition, which will also cause a SES light

If neither of these work please hold the "Info ^" button and the "ON/OFF" button for 30 seconds (until all segments on dash light up), then press "ON/OFF" twice (to select "All" then "All Codes") then write down all the codes that show with "Current" after them (Not "History" and post those for further help.

What does CCR means in a 1991 Cadillac deville?

Some models had the option for "Computer Controlled Ride". In the computer system there is a BCM (Body Control Modual) That monitors data from the load leveling sensors and transmission speed sensors. Using this data the computer can adjust the air pressure in the struts to one three settings based on the condtions.

I recently bought a 91 STS and found that it does not have this option. It does although, have the load leveling air shocks in the rear.

Although a very nice option to have the CCR struts are no longer manufactured by Cadillac. There are articles on the Cadillac forums that claim that GM air adjustable shocks will work on the Cadillac. Check with your mechanic.

Standard struts can be a more affordable replacement replacement. Be aware that there is a process discussed in the forums that you will need to go through in order to disable the CCR functions in the computer or you will be stuck with CCR system faliure warning.

Where is the turn signal flasher for a 93 Cadillac Deville. I followed instructions and still could not find it. is 93 different from 97?

After an hours worth of hunting I finally found my flasher on a 1997 Cadillac Seville. Hopefully this will help the next person. #1 - Remove the two screws holding the plastic cover just above the pedels. #2 - Remove the steel plate (4 screws) just above the plastic cover. #3 - By un-snapping (pulling down) remove the middle cover just under the steering wheel. This is the cover you see when you are in the car. #4 - Don't bother with the white plastic strap holding everything together at the steering wheel, because from trial and error, the flasher is not there. After you removed the last cover (#4), look to the left (near your knee when driving). The flasher is mounted with a clip on a piece of steel. No special tools, just slide the whole assembly up and then there is enough wire length to bring it towards you to replace. My new flasher was available at NAPA for about $13.00 My old flasher was making louder than normal clicking noizes and then the blinkers stopped all together. I replaced the flasher and "bang", the blinkers are working. Good luck! Brian After an hours worth of hunting I finally found my flasher relay on a 1997 Cadillac Seville. From what can find on line from the local Public Library, the hazard is to the right of the stearing column (I found the hazard) and the turn single flasher looks like it is above the fuse box, but I can not see or feel it up there. It loks likeit is comming off of the wires that goes into the fuse box. found it for my 93 deville: We (my mechanic ) did find it today. It was located behind the fuel center display panel. No need to ever go under the dash and dig through all of the panels and wires.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1998 Cadillac DeVille?

it takes a special tool, about $38.00 at NAPA. Very easy to get to the pump, 6 small bolts, it is on the "BACK side" of the motor, opposite end of the main pulleys and belts. Drivers side. the watre pump is driven by a small belt coming off the front cam shaft. easiest water pump I was able to reach , but it takes a special six fingered tool to grab the six lugs, and i belive it is a counter colockwise turn about a 1/8 of a turn, and the pump just falls out.

the outer housing of the pump (pump cover) has a special neoprene gasket, which i reused. It was going to be a specail order part, this gasket did not come with the pump. this housing also has the thermostat in it, which has two seprate bolts and a separate gasket for the thermostat inlet.

How do you reset the ac compressor for charging 97 Seville?

Press and hold the "Off" and "Warmer" to get into the system, once there use the fan/blower motor controls as follows: the High Fan button for "Yes" and the Low Fan for "No." Scroll through to you get to any A/C Codes. It should eventually ask "Clear Codes" and hit the High Fan button for Yes. Once cleared the A/C Compressor should come on, providing nothing else is wrong. You can use this to access all vehicle codes for engine and body computer systems. Or use a scan HOW DO YOU RESET THE AC COMPRESSOR FOR CHARGING 97 SEVILLE

Where is the receiver for the keyless entry on a 1993 Cadillac sedan deville?

On all 91-93 Deville cars. remove the glove box unit and it is DIRECTLY above the opening, just to the left of where your dash says "Cadillac" The smaller box toward the drivers side is the Chime module for lights, seat belt, etc. You want the larger black box with A LOT of wires coming out. There will be two 7mm (or 9/32 US) bolts that are a little tricky to get to.

Programming is done through the cars computer diagnostic connector under dash. Only cars with the RPO option code AUO in the trunk will have this FACTORY module. A lot of these cars had add on remote / alarm systems since you had to buy a 400 dollar security option package to get this when the cars were new back then.

What does 'traction disabled' on a 1995 Cadillac Sedan DeVille mean and how do you reset it?

It means the traction control is disabled. By default when you start your car it's enabled and will kick in on lose gravel ice or snow disbrituting power to the necessary wheels and cutting engine power to control the car. It also disingages cruise control. To turn it off the switch is in the glove box compartment. Then it will display "traction control off". Now if it says this all the time I would assume you need to take it in to a dealer and have it checked out. Personally I don't care if mine works or not. Just more stuff to fix on these cars.
