With the flywheel timing mark aligned at zero, #1 cylinder (front left facing engine) should be at top dead center and distributor rotor should be pointing at #1 post (1st post clockwise past the battery connector on the dist cap). If the distributor has been removed and reinstalled, the rotor may point at the opposite post (180deg out). If so, the distributor will have to be lifted enough to allow the rotor to be turned back to the #1 post. Be careful, if you try firing the engine with the timing significantly off, she will kick back into the starter, possibly damaging the starter gear or worse....! Once started, set the timing to 12deg btdc....good luck! Mike

Most likely lack of fuel, sounds dumb, but make sure there is gas in it, step 2: if sometimes it will start then die, this means the fuel filter is most likely plugged, debris will settle to the bottom of the filter then when fuel starts flowing it will re-pack and clog the passage way. could be a fuel pump, take the fuel line off of the filter under the hood and hold it over a large cup or bucket, turn the key on or even turn it over and see if it pumps out fuel, this will tell you if its working or not. depending what car it is, could be a distributor cap out of adjustment, dirty or malfunctioning which is not allowing it to fire.

Take the negative battery cable off for about 3 min.

The relay is in the fuse panel under the hood on the drivers front fender there are two identical fuses one is the air conditioner relay the other is the fuel pump they are interchangable. They are two small square box looking relays and are marked on the diagram usually under the cover for the fuse panel

Installing "replacement" subwoofers can be very costly, Factory Cadillac subwoofers are indeed very tricky. You must first purchace the proper sub, then install it as you would any other subwoofer. Your best bet would be to install an aftermarket sub and amp due to the costly BOSE system. If you choose this route you may also need to purchace a RCA adapter, and a factory amplifier bypass harness.

If the engine turns over (Cranks) it's fairly safe to assume that the battery and starter motor are fine. Internal combustion engines need three things to work. Compression, ignition, and fuel. Any one of which will cause trouble. Way too many variables to have a simple answer, given the information given! Good luck!

Disconnect the steering column from the power steering box in the engine compartment (there is a seal and it will not pull out easy). Remove the cover from underneath the steering column inside the car. Disconnect all wire connectors. There is a bracket underneath the column - remove the four bolts from it. There is s boot seal where the column goes through the firewall - it may also contains a bolt that wiil need to be removed. If it has a column shifter, you will need to disconnect this as well. Make sure when you slide the new steering column into the power steering box that the tires are straight and so is the steering wheel. If you forget, the steering wheel will not be straight while driving.

Check all the fuses. This happened to me with my Seville and it was a fuse that caused it. Take your time and go through them all, both under the hood and in the driving compartment. It shouldn't be a relay, not as long as the digital lights are lit up. Should you eliminate all other possiblities, removal of the instrument panel isn't too difficult. Caddilac used star bit screws under the instrument panel covers and hidden in the vents to mount the cover. But as I said, because the gas gauge/light controls are a separate component than your driver information/speedometer/engine info panel, the problem is most definitely a fuse. Don't hesitate to call or talk to a GM Caddillac mechanic. The repair bosses and parts people won't give you the time of day but if you can talk to or befriend a real mechanic, it would be worth it's weight in gold. There are some good guys working in those shops. They're making $40 an hour and some don't mind giving free advice. Go into the shop looking for a part, that'll give you an excuse to find a mechanic. What's the worst that can happen? You can tell them you can't afford to pay $500 to fix a fuse, the truth hurts. Good luck. And look into the Caddillac forum web site. What I do when I cant find the drain plug on different vehicles is to pull the lowest hose coming from the radiator. Usually saves me lots of time trying to find them and when I do sometimes you have to be a contortionist to be able to open them. It does the same thing. Good luck and hope this helps you. Brad.

it is under the intake manifold. you need to take the fuel rail off and take the intake manifold off to get to it it sits in the valley between the cylinder banks

On the bottom right of the display is a hole marked "date/timeset" You can use an ink pin or some such.

First push and the minutes will flas. Second push the hour will flash You can push either the "range" or "temp/time" buttons for scrolling.

Third push the date will flash.

Fourth push the month.

Fifth push the year will flash

The sixth push will exit.

you will see arrows pointing downward above the "temp time" button upward above the "range" button push eiter to increase or decrease the Disply that is flashing. You an change the flashing disly one increment at a time or hold the button in to change it rapidly.

It is located in the fuse panel in the engine compartment under the plastic removable piece.

Mineral oil is used with all R12 systems.
