Where is the reset button for alarm for 2000 Chevy surburban?
i have a 2004 Chevy Malibu i nedd to find the reset button please
It is possible that your battery and\or alternator has failed. You have to have so much juice to get the safety switch to kick on so that you can move the gear shifter. Put in a new battery or charge the battery and I bet it will solve this. You should be able to take the key out any way. Good luck.
A decent estimate of the speed of sound at sea level in dry air is (331.3+0.606*T)m/s where T is in °C. That means that at 20 °C, the speed would be about 343.2 m/s. Using that value, you get an estimate.of about 3 seconds (2.912 from the equation) for a sound wave to travel 1 km. Factors that can change it include: altitude (as pressure drops, the speed of sound decreases), frequency (in dry air, the speed of sound increases by about 0.1 m/s as the frequency rises from 10 Hz to 100 Hz, but above 100 Hz, where pretty much all car alarms sound, it's essentially constant), and humidity (the difference between 0% and 100% humidity is about 1.5 m/s at standard pressure and temperature). None of these effects are anywhere near as significant as the temperature of the air though.

The alarm system disabled the starter and car will not start how do you feel this?
is it a factory or a aftermarket security system. if it is a factory system either by hitting the unlock button on the keyfob or if its a Chrysler product such as a jeep you can disarm it simply by just putting the key into the driver side door and turning it to unlock. if its a after market unit and it wont disarm with the remote or the remote is lost and will not allow you to start it with a key you need to get into the dash underneath the streering wheel and find the brain to the security unit and pull either pull the fuse which is usually there are two or three of them typacillay heavy guage and red with heavy guage orange, pink, pink white, green, purple, you need to unhook the red wire that is the main power supply to the system. those color codes for remote start systems also if non of that works in needs to go to the dealership hope that helps
I asked the question, got some info. behind the glove box, unplug the alarm from the control?

How do you disarm the car alarm on a 1998 Chevy Malibu?
Most of these type questions would never be asked if driver's would open their owner's manual and read. This type information is contained within the owner's manual. If you do not have one, get one. You can get one at your dealer, or may find one at a salvage yard, laying in a glove box. You need the owner's manual for maintenance intervals, and other pertinent information. Why and how thee seem to be lost is a mystery to me. Question after question, asked on this site that can be answered by opening this little book. I have never owned a vehicle without having an owner's manual. I also see a lot of questions that can be answered by raising the hood and looking at the placards located there. Spark plug gap is just one. Amazing!

Why would the alarm go off randomly in your 2001 Mercury Sable?
Most all alarm systems have various sensors for detecting such things as vibration, heat and or movement around your vehicle and so forth. If these sensors are set to sensitive and or are defective the alarm system will be more of a nuisance than a deterrent. , EzForJesus
PS if this is an OEM type of alarm you might want to contact your dealer for this information.
There are 2 sensors which you have to be aware of. One is under the hood and one is in the trunk. My trunk sensor was sticking and the alarm was intermittently going off at all times during the day and night. I disconnected the trunk sensor and the car has functioned normal ever since. I bought an electrical wiring diagram for my car and figured it out.
I have the same problem. Anyone please? My email is pro003@panonnet.net
How do you disconnect the alarm system of a 1997 Lincoln Continental and still have the car turn on?
You may not want to disconnect the alarm system. It is connected to many other area's within the vehicle for thieft protection. If your alarm goes off when the car is not in use at various times during the day then that is another issue. I visited the dealer today and prodded the mechanic with a bunch of questions. The main reason for the alarm to trigger in most cases is the sensor in the trunk lid. You have to take off the covering on the inside of the trunk lid. There should be two wires. One should be for the trunk lid to open electronically the other for the alarm system. (Sorry I don't know which wire is for what function). If it is possible to disconnect one at a time to determine it's functionality, then try that. If you like to take chances, disconnect both wires. The only real problem you would encounter is that you would have to use your key to open the trunk instead of opening it with the FOB. I haven't tried any of this yet but I will be giving it a try real soon. If you choose not to go this route the cost of running dionostics and getting it repaired is about $85 at the dealership.

Insert the correct key into the ignition switch and start the engine. That should shut the alarm off.
When installing a new battery how do you get the alarm to go off after you get it hooked up?
In many cases you can either push the "Alarm" switch on your remote car door opener (If it has one) or use the door key to lock/unlock the drivers door. This will usually "reset" the alarm. TommyTrouble
this is weird, but I had an intermittent car alarm failure on my '98 k2, but it was a bit different....the alarm would mysteriously "arm" itself....sometimes when idling, sometimes when I was driving. Embarrassing when I stopped and opened the door to get out...setting off the alarm. Also, occasionally the car wouldn't start at all....apparently related to some safety feature in the alarm system. I found that by opening and slamming the rear drivers-side door shut, it magically reset whatever was wrong in the first place. I have no idea how I figured that out. Ultimately, the alarm problem traced back to the rear driver-side door sensor...a little switch covered by a rubber boot. There was a bad contact internally...you could see one of the electrical leads inside looked a little darker through the translucent switch housing. Apparently it was arcing internally, and the alarm somehow interpreted that as a signal to "arm". I'd guess that a similar flaw in any of the door sensors would be troublesome Highly unllikely the exact sam thing is your problem, but it's a start. $18 at the VW dealer, and I'm back in business!
