Car Shaking Problems

Since I don't know what your vibration feels like, it COULD be a worn U joint (rear wheel drive only) or it could be a tire balance or bent wheel problem.

Shaking while stopped, can be caused by broken motor mount, or engine miss.

Tires out of balance, worn t-rods, Bad u- joints, Belt broke in tire.

Have a mechanic take it for a drive and get their opinion.

this has been a problem that has been going on from the beginning. the timing can not keep up with your foot. when you press the gas, the timing adjust to accommodate. G. M. has found a solution, VARIABLE TIMING. it adjust on the fly, it is hydraulic controlled, using the motor oil. it is not easy to work on, needs special tools and training, but it works great. this feature it part of the new VORTEC ENGINE.

Serious engine knock or valve train noise. Have this looked into by a pro.

Probably i would go for wheel balance and maybe check your wheel bearings rotors will not make it shake because of speed

tire out of round belt shift bent rim or play in front end components. could be a rotor if it gets worse during breaking it is rotor.

shaking and vibration are some of the more difficult things to diagnose.

Focusing on suspension and steering, assuming it shakes both while giving it gas in gear, and coasting in neutral. (make sure its speed/movement related, not engine/rpm related)

Check your tires for uneven wear or a difference in tire pressure. One of the most common causes of vibration is simply that tires are worn and not worn evenly.

The car is fairly new, but depending on your driving habits, your tires may be worn and need replacement (making sure you rotate your tires every 5000 miles will lengthen their lifespan dramatically and most places will do it for free for life if you buy their tires).

if it isn't tire wear or tire pressure, the next things to look at are your steering joints. Bad CV joints, Tie rods (inner and outer) can cause bumps and shakes that can be hard to pinpoint. You alignment may be off causing these symptoms as well.

Look for torn rubber boots and escaping grease, that's a clear sign of a bad joint that may need some attention.

I know SEARS at least used to do free suspension inspections. That might be a good place to start.

Yes more than likely, warped rotors. Have rotors turned if thick enough as well as new brake pads installed. If the rotors do not meet a minimum thickness requirements, they will have to be replaced as well. A good shake down of the front end wouldn't hurt either. Sometimes bearing, tie rods, etc... can cause stuff to happen as well. But I would bank on the warped rotor idea, no doubt. Good Luck. Let me know if further questions.

Yes. Keep the speed down below the shake speed, get to a tire facility and have the wheel balance and alignment checked.

It really depends on why it is shaking. If you have a wheel about to fall off due to loose lug nuts, or a defective tire, then no, you should not drive it.

1st you should determine the cause of the misfire:

Does the vehicle have "coil on plug" ignition system?

Could be a bad coil

Could be a bad spark plug or wire

Do a compression test to see if problem is internal to the engine:

Burned valve or bad piston

You can drive vehicle, however fuel mileage will be bad and you will probably ruin the catalytic converter

Gun shots from a drive-by ought to do the trick. But the magazine capacity would have to be somewhat small, or the cyclic rate quite high.

It could be any of a number of problems:

bent wheel, faulty tire with a slipped belt, bent axle.

If you can't track it down yourself, take it to a good front-end specialist. Every large sized town has someone who specializes in front-end alignments. Don't go to the tire store unless you know them PERSONALLY, and avoid the shops that do it all.

Jack it up and spin it.

You start by taking the engine cover off. You can accomplish by removing quarter sized plugs in the cover on top of the engine. Removing the plugs will provide access to screws to remove the cover. After removing the cover, you have to remove the coil packs which slide down on top of each spark plug. You should see 'posts' with 10mm nuts which need to be removed. Pull each coil pack out after removing the nuts, and the spark plugs should be accessible.

Steering vibration is almost always caused by the tires/wheels. Either your wheels are out of balance or one or both of your tires is defective. There could be a broken belt in the tire that is causing the vibration. If you don't want to take your vehicle to a tire store right away, you can check by reversing tires front to back. If your problem is with the tires, the problem should go away after reversing the tires. However, I don't recommend you do nothing about the problem. Last summer one of the front tires of my pickup had a bad belt, which caused the tire vibrate violent at high speed, and within a few miles, the tire tread separated and fell off. Had I not slowed down before the tire separated, I would have most certainly lost control of the vehicle. The prudent thing to do is take it to a reputable tire store. I recommend you take it to a Goodyear-owned service center. By reversing the tires first, you will know if it is a bad tire/wheel and nothing else. That will give you peace of mind when the mechanic tells you what your problem is.

If the vehicle has a lot of miles on it, a worn tie rod could also be the cause. A good mechanic will check for wheel balance first since that is a lot less expensive.

If the tires are defective, you should get an adjustment to the cost of replacing them. You may have to take them to the tire store where you purchased them. If they came with a new car, take the car to the auto dealership.

if u want to remove a plug you have to be careful that water is not in your hand see that it is dry before u pull the plug thank

you need an alignment, badly....or your bearing snapped. call a mechanic, and tell them your vehicles' symptoms. they'll tell ya the same thing i just did

call a locksmith you probably damaged the ignition switch and it need to be replaced.ask him if he can fit the new switch to the same key as the original.
