you probable have a fuel draining back to the tank try pumping your fuel primer then it should start almost straight away if so then you have a air leak or your nonreturn valve has gone on the fuel filter

You press the top of the black rubber thing located on the left side of the left front seat (when you're sitting in the car).

Follow the fuel line from the fuel tank to the engine and you will find the filter.

The Toyota 4runner factory alarm system is quite difficult to disable since it is part of the computer and wiring of the general electrical system that operates the electric locks, horn and ignition. Frequently, the alarm does not work right: You may experience the following: The alarm activates every time you merely unlock the car, and will not turn off until you put the key in the ignition. Many owners have disabled the horn as a simple method. Your best bet is that you will have to go to the dealer to attempt to disable the alarm. Bear in mind, when the alarm does not work right is is because one of the door lock alarm wires has been removed or disabled. If one of the alarm wires to any of the door locks is merely cut or is broken, the alarm system will not work right. This happens alot when you have to replace a door due to an accident, and the auto body shop does not line up all of the wires. This is not an easy thing to fix, even to try to "rig" it in your backyard. Becuase you got to find the door that has the bad alarm wire, and then take it apart to find the bad wire. The most notorious culprit is the rear door hatch. If you can locate the alarm wire to the rear door hatch (or the door you suspect has the problem) and either reattach it or add a wire and somehow connect the "problem" wire to another door that has the wire and is working correctly. Again, these alarm wires cannot be merely "cut" and go nowwhere. They must complete a circuit, and if the circuit is not complete the whole alarm system malfunctions. Thus--you can try hooking the "problem" alarm wire ---to an alarm wire to a door that the lock is working properly.

This is a fuel injected vehicle. if you touch the gas pedal to start it you could flood it. Maybe your wife starts it without touching gas pedal.

In "front" of the engine (you have to get under it to get there) mounted high on the transmission.

1) Floor the accelerator while you try to start it. (make sure the car is in park if it's an auto or neutral if it's a stick)

2) Check to see if you have spark. If you do, proceed to #5.

3) Pull off your distributor cap and make sure the rotor is secure.

4) "Tap" your starter.

5) Check to see if you have fuel pressure. (taking off the top line of your fuel filter and having someone turn the key to "on". this should cause fuel to flow so make sure you have an empty can or cup to catch the fuel in)

Do you have an owner's manual? If not, purchase one from a dealer as the reset procedure is not difficult to do but, lengthy to write out here. If I recall correctly, all U hav 2 do is dial up a station and hold in the appropriate button you want it set on 4 a few seconds until it "beeps". Then it's "locked in"!

The starter or battery could be weak. The weakness will cause the starter to turn too slowly to start the truck.
