The idle speed and idle mixture are the first things to adjust and are very easy. If there is an off-idle stumble or a bog, you'll need to make adjustments to the accelerator pump and possibly the power valve to suit your engine. Here's a general rule of thumb: Close the fuel mixture valve, then back it out 2 1/2 turns. Then adjust it from there. It's a good starting point, and usually works for me.

You can change your 1986 305 cubic inch pickup engine from a carburetor to fuel injection. The problem with doing so is the cost. It might cost more to do the change than it would to purchase an engine.

Why would you want to? It is computer controlled, so I don't see how you could.

Well, there are a couple of things I can think of. First, your low RPMs might be caused by a bad fuel/air mixture, which is often the O2 sensor which is around 50 - 100 dollars. Another thing it might be is is bad spark plugs or wires. For what you're talking about, you probably don't want to adjust the RPM level (I take it you mean its idling RPMs) however you can do so. Since your car isn't carbureted, you would have to edit your ECU, which can be done with specialized computer programs installed on a laptop which is then wired into the ECU. Those run anywhere from 200 dollars on up.

Practically speaking, no you can't adjust the idle speed. More to the point, the problem is not simply a matter of misadjustment, and if you were to somehow effect an adjustment, that could very likely cause other problems. Something is broken/malfunctioning/disconnected/etc. The thing to do is find the problem causing the poor idle. When the problem is fixed, the idle speed will fall into line.

Choke Cleaner

To adjust the speed limiter on a Baja Doodlebug, locate the throttle cable and the adjustment screw typically found near the carburetor. By turning the screw clockwise, you can limit the throttle's range, thereby reducing speed. Conversely, turning it counterclockwise will allow for a greater throttle opening and increased speed. Always ensure adjustments are made carefully and test the bike in a safe environment.

High is 7/8 ths of a turn out from lightly seated. Low would be 1-1/4 turn out. This is ball park settings. The saw should run but will need fine tuning. Be careful not to turn the H screw in to far and lean out the mixture and damage the motor.

The idle adjustment should rest, centered on the pointed end of the idle speed adj. screw. Once the H and L jets are adjusted then you want to turn the idle screw out as far as possible so the idle is set at the lowest smootly running speed you can achieve.

It depends how much petrol was put in. If it was a "full tank" draining the tank and the system would be advisable. If it was just a small amount, the mixture can be cut by adding more diesel with some motor oil mixed into it It is a common practice in times of diesel shortages to use motor oil with a small amount of gasoline added to it in place of diesel. You will have to use your own judgment as to how much diesel and/or oil to add.

If you have flat white painted walls you can use ajacks or comic scorring powder on a light colered damp rag and rub lightly I used TSP. You by it at home improvement centers in paint dept. Make sure to get the powder type. The liquid doesn't work that well. You will also need rubber gloves and a sponge. It makes all dirt and grime just wipe off. Try a little spot someplace first but I had no problems except I had to rinse the walls to ensure all crud was gone.Didn't hurt finish at all. Also works wonders on doors. Again, Make sure to wear gloves! Use a "baby" sponge - it won't take the paint off like a domestic sponge will.

Turn them fully in and then 1 1/2 turn out. This will allow you to start the engine and fine tune them from there.
