Did you ruin the engine by adding low silicate coolant in your 1999 Chevy Camaro?

What does your owner's manual say to use? If low silicate is not listed then drain and refill with the proper coolant.

If you hide the VIN number can the car still be repossessed?

Yes, all ya gotta do is open the door and check the VIN.... Repo men are just not allowed to open a locked door.... We can and do open the door there is no criminal intent and as long as there is not damage to the car there is no reason to complain. Also there are other places to find the vin# on a car besides the dash. A car must be correctly identified before a repossession agent can secure the vehicle. Whether it's by the VIN off the dash or not, it can be repossessed even if the VIN is covered on the dash.

Why is hard to push the gas peddle down when the car is parked or stopped on a 2000 Tahoe?

It is oil and carbon build up on the butterfly on the fuel injection system that causes the gas pedal to stick or hang closed. It happens on my 2001 Tahoe about once a year. This is a simple repair. There is a large rubber air cleaner hose from the air cleaner box to the intake manifold on the engine. There is a metal clamp that holds the rubber hose on the intake manifold. Loosen that clamp. Remove the rubber hose from the intake by pull to the front of the vehicle. Open the butterfly valve that allows air into the engine. Clean all the carbon and grease inside the the intake opening and around the butterfly where it touches when closed. If your rub you finger in inside the opening you will feel it gummy and it will be very greasy. Clean with solvent or just with a dry rag. This will solve problem for about a year to 18 months.

What are the pros and cons to a 1989 Camaro 2.8l?

Easy to find parts as most junk yards still have an abundance of Camaros hanging around, and there are a few fairly reliable sites dedicated to thirdgen parts, though slightly more expensive than the junk yards.

Fairly good on gas if it has been taken care of, and a turbo is fairly easily installed if you want a reasonable amount of performance (there is a lot of space to work around a 6 cylinder.) A throttle body spacer is also easily installed along with a k&n air filter, adding a few horse power because of improved air intake.... in short, the car is easily modded, and there is an abundance of support online on how to do so... switching the ignition coil out is also a good idea.

Lots of body mods and accessories available... the car just looks good pretty much no matter what you do to it.

Cons:

The 2.8 doesn't start out with a lot of balls, so if you ever intend on racing, and don't care too much about fuel efficiency, then an 8 cylinder is a better option than a 6 with a turbo, and switching it out later isn't really a smart idea financially.

Turbocharger vs Supercharger?

what are you asking? the difference between them is that a supercharger works through the intake side of the engine and a turbocharger works on the exhaust

no, dude. The supercharger and turbo charger both are forced induction meaning that they both work on the intake. the difference is that the supercharger is belt driven and the turbo charger is gas driven meaning that the supercharger is connected to the belt system of your engine, creating instant power as you accelerate as it is driven off the system it is boosting.

the turbo charger works off of your exhaust gas as mentioned earlier and is also affective however it takes a short while for the exhaust gas to turn the turbines thus creating something called turbo lag.

if you are asking which is better. anything under 3500 cc and 6 cylinders i would turbo charge, anything above i would supercharge. but you can do either to any engine.

The 1995 Z28 camaro has a v8 engine in it. That engine is a ctually a steel version of the corvette engine. Since there are 1995 camaros with v8 engines in them, you can probably fit a v8 into your car.

How do you replace the transmission mounts on a 1989 camaro IROC?

Jack the car up,and make sure it is safely on jack stands.Look at the back of the transmission. The tail shaft rest on a crossmember.the crossmember goes from one side of the car to the other, and is bolted to the car with two bolts on each side. The tail shaft of the transmission rest on the crossmember.Between the tailshaft and the crossmember should be a rubber mount[transmission mount] that is bolted to the transmission. There is a bolt that is made into the mount that comes through a hole in the crossmember where a washer and nut is tightened up to the crossmember. Then loosen and remove the bolts that bolt the crossmember to the car.The bolts are at each end of the crossmember. After removing the crossmember bolts.Using a floor jack, jack up the transmission until the bolt in the mount clears the crossmember. Then slide the crossmember back or remove from the car [if needed].You should be able to remove the bolts from the mount where it bolts to the transmission. When installing the new mount do these steps in reverse. BE SAFE WHEN UNDER THE CAR,MAKE SURE THE CAR IS SAFELY SECURED BEFORE GETTING UNDER THE CAR IF YOU HAVE DO DO THIS WITHOUT A LIFT.

Where is the starter on a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro?

The starter is located under the vehicle - towards the middle of the vehicle, about as far back as the front tires. It's bolted up behind the exhaust. Fun job! Its actually pretty easy to get at. It is actually on the passenger side of the bellhousing. I belive you will need a small extension with a deep walled i believe it was a 15mm socket (not 100%, i kno its close to that size) and there are two bolts holding it on, along with the wiring on top.
