every cavalier (unless modified) has rear drum brakes and front disk brakes.

Wether it has ABS or not doens't effect the changing of the brakes, it needs front pads and rotors, and back needs drums and shoes...

so the front is different from the back

You should disconnect the battery cable as a safety procedure so the ABS will not try to work when you are working with the brakes. Just be aware that in some GM you will need a password to unlock the radio, so be cautious about it. Good luck.

i need to know how to change an automatic transmission mount on a 2000 chevrolet

I have a knocking noise near the water pump pully or idler arm pully on my 94 chevy cavalier 2.2 motor when its at idle, if i give it more gas the noise will go away do you know what this could be? i took off the tension idle pully and checked the bearing and it was fine.

Not all motors are the same so it depends ---- All engine governors share at least one thing in common: The governor closes the throttle when it thinks it's going too fast. So, locate the throttle lever (usually on top of the carb, behind the choke, closest to the engine), and disconnect any springs or rods or linkage. Hook up your own controls (lever, cable, pedal, whatever) and you have now completely bypassed the governor system.

Put your Chevy Cavalier in neutral and then crank it once without starting the car. This will turn on the electrical system and you need to allow it to sit like that for several minutes for everything to reset itself.

When the headlight switch fails, you'll need to replace the entire combination switch. Here is the procedure to replace the headlight switch on your Chevy Cavalier:

1) Unscrew the screws on the bottom and top of the steering wheel column cover, using a screwdriver and pull the bottom and top of the steering wheel column cover forward and down to remove it.

2) Unscrew the two screws that hold the headlight switch to the steering column. Pull the headlight switch off the steering column. Unplug the electrical connector running to the headlight switch.

3) Connect the electrical connector to the new headlight switch and secure the headlight switch to the steering column using the factory mounting screws and a cross-point screwdriver. Reassemble the steering column cover.

On the passenger side of the throttle body, under the air resonator. It has 3 wires connected to it, orange/black, light green and gray.

When you replaced the injectors, did ou also replace the O rings?

Are the injectors seated down in there OK?

You must be able to turn the lock cylinder to replace it. First take off the battery cable so the air bags dont go off. Then unscrew and remove the tilt lever. Then remove the upper & lower steering column covers.(3 screws on the bottom) Then turn the key to the RUN position. Then press the lock button with a screw driver and remove the lock cylinder. The lock button is silver color compaired to the gray lock cylinder. To put it back in...Turn the key to the run position, press the lock button, rotating the key counterclockwise about 5 degrees,gently push the lock into place. The ignition switch is strait across from the lock on the column.(black color)

i got my car up to 5500 but i want to know if it goes higher ...it got a dual overhead cam

Did mine on a 2.2 liter. Drain system into a pan by turning rad drain plug behind rad and at bottom. Remove serpentine belt by pulling tensioner pulley. Remove Alternator. The water pump is then visible. Remove pulley wheel attached to front of water pump. Remove 4 bolts from water pump. Gently pry it off the engine block. Clean block area thoroughly before installing a new pump, removing all of old gasket. Buy gasket goop and spread along flanges of new water pump; set gasket into this goop so it doesn't move when you slip it against the block. It helps to have someone hold the new WP while you align it and put in bolts nice and snug. Get the quick drying goop so you can be off in a hurry. Put on pulley, belt, alternator and fill with Antifreeze you saved from pan(use a cloth filter to strain the bits of black crap). Start engine, check for good WP seal. TA-DA!

Changing the tie rod is not difficult, but requires an alignment and special tools. Would suggest having a profesional do the work due to the chance of improper install is very important to the steering of the car.

98 Hyundai crankshaft positioning sensor location

Stick a long screwdriver between the hood and the the small trim piece in the front middle of vehicle and try to locate the small latch that the cable would pull if it was there. It will take some force but push it to the right when facing the front of the vehicle. After this disengages then you should be able to open your hood with the finger latch. A flashlight helps.

Turn on the headlights and walk to front of car and see if both headlights are on. Make sure to check both the high beam and low beam head lights. I believe that the blinking light you are seeing is to tell you that one of the headlight bulbs is burnt out and needing replacement. That's the Daytime running light indicator. Check that they are working.

A diagram should be on the inside cover of the fuse box.

The 2000 Chevy Cavalier cooling fan shroud is held in place with 10 retaining bolts. Remove the retaining bolts and the cooling fan shroud will come off.

I have heard that the motor mounts often go bad. I have just purchased one but have not picked it up yet. It has a terrible vibration while in gear standing still. I never expect it to go away 100% but I'm sure I can improve it. I had a Vega years ago and I think it's typical of the older 4cylinder Chevy.

Alot of times its the boots of the engine mounts, but before u go out and purchase those go inside your engine compartment and try tightening down the mounts a bit, i have seen people have this problem go out and buy the new boots etc for it and all it was.. was a loose bolt somewhere down the line..

You'll need a new ignition switch and key provided from your dealer, the bill won't be pretty!

Tachometers generally always attach in the same way, that is there are 4 wires: red = a switched-on ( hot only when car is running)12 volt source, black = suitable good ground, green = trigger ( the negative side of the distributor or coil), yellow or remaining color is for the light bulb in the tach for night time driving. Attach the yellow to a wire that has power when your lights go on such as a instrument wire. I always use a 12 volt circuit tester to probe wires. Under $9.00. ...1930fcoupe

Detach the screw that attaches the heater duct on a Chevy Cavalier and remove the heater core. Once this is done you can replace the faulty heater core with a functional one.
