How do you put 24 inch rims on a Chevelle?

Don't. Chevelles came stock with either 14" or 15" wheels from the factory. While you can certainly get 24's under there, it looks STUPID!!! The car will sit as high as a pickup truck. Bigger isn't always better. I've seen 18's look great on Chevelles. going bigger is fine, but TOO big, and you won't be happy with the way the car looks OR drives.

Why would a '96 Hyundai Accent constantly leak oil and when you step on the gas will not accelerate?

I've just examined the engine block on a friends 98 Accent and found the source of what appears to be quite a major oil leak to be caused by corrosion on the lower front left hand side of the engine block (as viewed from the front) has caused the neck of the dipstick tube to part from the block itself and is therefore spraying oil from the sump all over the front of the engine, especially around the exhaust manifold, oil filter and alternator. Although this may not be the cause of your problem its worth checking as oil may have sprayed onto an engine management sensor causing a conductive track between the electrical conections and therefore causing a false reading. Also have you checked for a blown head gasket, look in the coolant for any traces of oil, and also look at it when the engine is running to see if any exhaust gasses are bubbling through it theres are a sure sign of a blown head gasket.

ANSWERYou must first locate the leak. Could be as minor as a valve cover. Easy to replace. Make sure you put silicone gasket sealer on gasket touching the head. Power loss could be mass air flow sensor. Could be bad or just need to be cleaned. Try cleaning it with MAF sensor cleaner. AnswerFirst mistake. You bought a Korean car;) Sounds like you have a serious oil leak maybe from a main seal. This is a big repair not to be done by an amateur. As far as hesitation goes have you tried a higher octane gas? Good luck! AnswerFirst i would suggest you get a engine wash after which you watch the engine carefully so you can locate where the oil is coming from. As for the acceleration problem there could be alot of problem associated with that such as dirty gas filter etc try a general saervice first and see what happens

Answer

our acceleration problem turned out to be the clutch.

Why do your lights stay on after you turn off your 2002 Chevy impala?

Delayed Headlamps

The delayed headlamps feature provides a period of

exterior lighting as you leave the area around your

vehicle. The feature is activated when the headlamps

are on due to the automatic headlamps control

feature described previously in this section, and when

the ignition is turned off. Your headlamps will then

remain on until the exterior lamps control is moved to

the parking lamps position or until either a 30 second or

60 second lighting period has ended.

If you turn off the ignition with the headlamps switch in

the parking lamps or headlamps position, the delayed

headlamps cycle will not occur.

To disable the delayed headlamps feature or change

the time of delay, see Vehicle Customization Settings

on page 3-91.

Programmable Modes

To reset or customize the features, first enter the

vehicle customization main menu. To enter the main

menu, do the following:

1. Turn the ignition to ACC or ON. The radio must

be off.

2. Press and hold the TUNE or DISP knob on the

radio for at least five seconds until SETTINGS is

displayed.

3. Press the SEEK or PSCAN up or down arrows to

scroll through each available feature on your

main menu.

4. Press the PREV or NEXT buttons to scroll through

the lower menu. An asterisk (*) will appear next to

the item that is the current setting.

The following information shows how to reset or

customize features after entering the main menu.

LT DELAY (Delayed Headlamp

Illumination)

This feature allows the headlamps and parking lamps to

stay on for a set amount of time after you exit the

vehicle, or to turn off immediately.

Programmable Modes

Mode 1: OFF

Mode 2: 30 SEC

Mode 3: 60 SEC

Your vehicle was originally programmed to Mode 2. The

mode may have been changed since then. To

determine the current mode, or to change the mode, do

the following:

1. Scroll, using the SEEK/PSCAN up or down arrows,

until LT DELAY appears on the display.

2. Press the PREV or NEXT button to enter the

submenu. The current selection will have an

asterisk (*) next to it. If you do not wish to change

the current mode, you can either exit the

programming mode by following the directions later

in this section or program the next feature

available on your vehicle.

3. Scroll, using the PREV or NEXT buttons, through

the modes to change the current mode.

4. With your preference displayed, press the

TUNE/DISP button to select. A chime will be heard

to verify the new setting. The new selection will

be displayed with an asterisk (*) for one second.

The mode you selected is now set. You can either exit

the programming mode by following the instructions

later in this section or program the next feature available

on your vehicle.

I have a 2002 impala and the Low coolant light will not go off it's intermittent. The coolant is full. What else could it possibly be?

I HAVE A 2000 IMPALA ,AND MINE DID THE SAME THING.I HAD IT CHECKED AND IT WAS THE THERMOSTAT.IT WAS CLOSED,THEREFORE IT WAS NOT ALLOWING ANY COOLANT INTO MY ENGINE,SO I REPLACED IT AND NOW ITS ALL GOOD! ANOTHER POSSIBILITY IS YOUR TEMP SENSOR. HOPEFULLY THIS HELPS.

Your 02 impala is not blowing cold or hot air?

Check the coolant, the thermostat, or the radiator. When the coolant system is low on antifreeze or dirty it will cause the air and heat not to work. If you have enough antifreeze, and the correct type (NO GREEN only orange or pink or maybe clear) and your car still has the same problem, you will probably need a radiator flush. Take it to somebody you trust to do that since we went to Jiffy Lube once and they broke a hose and fixed it with something that resembled chewed bubble gum. We have a constant leak now and it will cost $1000 to fix.

Why does 2001 impala fan make noise?

All fans will make a "whooshing noise"

If there is a squeaking or grinding noise the fan motor needs to be replaced/refurbished.

How do you remove the car door panel on a 1997 Mitsubishi Diamante?

Just went through this today myself the are 3 screws you need to remove the first one is very easy and out in the open to the top right of the door panel the second is behind the door handle go like you are going to open the door and you will see the screw the third one is the one that got me good the place where you put your hand to close the door look in it the is a cut out section use a flathead to pry that off and underneath it there is the third screw. Once you get all those out just pull starting from one corner and it will snap off.

What causes the vehicle to jump forward once when coming to a complete stop?

The jump is caused by G forces. The car is moving and you stop the car, but you dont stop right away. You keep going until another force acts upon you, which is yourself and gravity. This applies to the car too. First the brakes stop the wheel, then the wheel stops the axles... and so on. This causes the "jumping forward".

How do you replace a serpentine belt on a 2000 Chevy Impala?

Honda Man'sIf the model you are working on has the motor mount preventing the removal of serpentine belt, the mount must first be removed. The tension must be relaxed by moving the spring loaded serpentine belt tensioner (denlors 3680 Serp Belt Tool makes this easier). Once the tension is released slide the belt off. A diagram of the belt routing is usually found under the hood. Reverse procedure for installation. Verify the belt is in all grooves fully before starting the engine or damage to the new belt may occur.

use a ratchet to loosen the mounting bolt on the alternator and pivot it down. now the belt should be loose. slip the belt off. slip the new one on. pivot the alternator back into position and tighten the mounting bolt. to get an exact fit before loosening the mounting bolt make a mark across the mounting bolt and mount so you can line it up when tightning. Chev Impala 3.8 ltr 2000 and earlier. 1) Remove stabilizer bar, 2 nuts on each side on top of strut mounts. 2) Remove coolant recovery tank and recovery tube, crimp tube lightly with small pair of vise grips so coolant will not drain out. 3)Using a 1/2" drive ratchet with a 15 mm socket place the ratchet on the self tension pully bolt. Pull up on the ratchet as if you are trying to loosen the bolt ( pully bolt will not undo ) using enough force to overcome the torque of the tension spring. This procedure will push the pully down enough to slip of the serpetine belt. Reverse procedure to install new belt.

How to replace fuel regulator on Chevrolet Impala 2004?

Even though it is in open view, this is a really tight space, and small hands are good. First you need to make a little extra room. Using a 13mm socket, back off the bolt holding the throttle valve so it is flush and not protuding towards the regulator. Pull the throttle swinger back and out of the way and jam it in place with a long screwdiver fed from the back. Remove the PCV valve from the valve cover and connecting tube. Remove the vacuum line from the regulator.

To remove the bottom feed line, use a 15/16" open end or metric equivalant, turning clockwise when looking from the top. It will only move about 1/6 turn, then flip the wrench. When loose, pull the tube out as far as possible. To remove the screw holding the regulator in place, you will need a T-27 star driver, a 1/4" hex wrench, and a 1/4" socket. There is no room to get a rachet in there, and do not try using an Allen wrench or you will be so sorry. Put the T-27 driver into the socket, and slide the wrench over the driver so it is on the hex part. Put your contraption into the screw, using one hand to apply back pressure to hold it in place, and turning the wrench with the other. Once you get everything loose, you can kind of twist the regulator out.

Installation is the reverse, but be sure to lube both seals with a little oil and a q-tip. Tighten the T-27 screw until it is about where it needs to be, then make sure the bottom feed tube is pushed in all the way. You'll probably need needlenose pliers and a magnet to get the feeder tube nut back up, and start it manually, making sure it is straight before you put the wrench to it. Tighten both snuggly, and put everything else back the way it was. Turn the key and drive away.

How many miles can you travel on 17.0 gallons of gas on a 2001 Chevy Impala?

In my 2001 Chevy Impala I get 26 miles per gallon in town driving and 32-34 on long trip highway travel so it would be hard to say unless you check what kind of mileage you are getting with your car. Just reset your mileage gage on your panel when you fill up with gas and on the next fill up check how many miles you went and divide it by the gallons you put in on this last fill up and it should tell you how many you are getting. All cars are different. It would also depend on if you have a service issues that need to be taken care of.

What tools do you need to change the front hub assembly on a 2002 impala?

the normal tools (wrenches and sockets) with the exception of the axle nut. not 100 % on this one either 32milimeter or 1"1/4 you have the luxury of taking your cap off before your wheel to try this.when you get all your tools together its not that bad of a job.

What intermittently causes the heater to abruptly blow cold air at the same time the temperature gage indicates hot but the car is not actually overheating in a 2000 Chevy impala 3.4 v6?

QuestionI have a 1099 Olds Silloette Van instead of the 2000 Chevy..... Same engine

I changed the thermostat twice and believe me its not easy...... I even check them in hot water before installing the second one and they both openned okay..... I still have the same condition..... I replaced the radiator cap...... I bled the water valves on both the upper hose fitting and heater hose.... The radiator fans both work, but seem to come at a very high guage temperature.....just short of the gauge red over heat zone...... The temperature gauge will remain steady at the first quarter mark for a few miles. Then the temperature will zoom to the gauge Red zone....

No indications of Coolant getting into the engine oil...... The exhaust does not have excessive vapor.

I have also noticed the reservoir tank will back fill to to almost over flowing...... This leads me to believe why the heater become cold intermittently (no hot water in heater hose).......

The water pump works....

The upper radiator hose gets real stiff as it feels it is under extreme pressure....

When the engine is cool and radiator cap is off, squeezing the upper radiator hose cause the coolant to move up and down at the fill port.....

Could the temperature sensor or circuitry that tells the radiator fans when to come on be intermittent or defective?
