Take your Serpentine belt back off. Try to start the car now. If it starts, shut it off quickly. Spin all the pulleys under the hood, power steering, alternator, AC, idler, tensioner. See if they all spin. If one doesnt, it probly needs to be replaced.

How do you remove a starter on a 1995 Monte Carlo Z34?
Well... i had to take it into a mechanic... The starter is located towards to back, behind the oil filter. The entire engine needs to be lifted out of the frame in order to get to it, or you can drop the frame a few inches. It's nearly impossible to get to without moving the engine or frame around.Thst may be the case for certain models but I have a 95' Monte Carlo z34 3.4 litre v6 DOHC and I just replaced my starter first there are two bolts one in the front you can immediately see and the second in the back you will be able to see as well but may be covered by a plastic cover used to view the fly wheel if so remove the plastic cover on the front and the back and then remove the front bolt first then the back bolt and pull it out while it is out you may want to check the fly wheel and make sure that no teeth are broken off or grinded down and that the problem truly is the starter if no teeth are missing and everything on the flywheel checks out than replace your starter and it should fire right up it was fairly easy to get in but the old one was a little hard to get out also you have to remove the oil filter to get the starter on and off but to get it back on you should go to your local autoparts dealer and buy an oil filter socket to make sure you get it on there nice n tight also i reccommend the fram sure grip oil filters they seem to work the best with the oil filter sockets.

I'm having the same issue on this I am from mass as well. What I have found out by taking the steering column almost completely apart, is that there are four six point male started bolts that are behind everything. From what I was told by asking around is that those bolts need to be tightened. How to get to them is another issue. Hope this helps

Take it to the dealer. They have check out charts. This happened to me in a 96 Monte Carlo. The dealer did not have time to look at it - we were on a road trip out of town - but suggested it might be the key. Ours has the chip in it - maybe your does, too? He said it might be going bad. At any rate, we changed to the spare and the light went out and stayed out. That was over a year ago, so sounds like he was right!

Yes, this happened to me once. Simply reset the dashboard display after rotating tires. The system works on an imbalanced number of revolutions at the wheel sensor of the ABS. First, make sure that the four tires are identical and have identical pressure. Then reset the display.

The settings and resest to those settings can be found on your factory radio. If you have an aftermarket radio, you'll have to see your dealer to reset it. Otherwise, press and hold the "tune" knob (under the volume knob). You'll notice on the radio display, it will indicate "Settings". Press the arrow keys, under the volume to toggle between settings. When you get to Tire Monitor, press the arrow keys to the right (1 and 2 of the radio presets) until you see (reset), then press the tune button again and you'll hear a beep to confirm. There might be a reset button in the glove box or fuse box. It should say in your owner's manual.

There's no such thing as a "1993 Monte Carlo 3.4 motor"... The first generation Chevrolet Monte Carlo (1970-1972). In 1973, the second generation Monte Carlo (1972-1977). Third generation (1978-1980). The fourth generation Monte Carlo (1981-1988). The last rear wheel drive Monte Carlo was built December 11, 1987 at 5:29PM at the Pontiac Michigan plant. After a six year absence, however, the Monte was re-introduced for a fifth generation (1995-1999). In 1998 and 1999 the 3.4L DOHC (215 HP) was changed to a 3.8L (A mere 200 HP) for the Z34 package.
Back to your question pertaining to a presumable 95-97 3.4L engine. The alternator is replaced by removing the right front drive axle. Not as hard of a task as you may think it to be, but if you don't know what you're doing nor have a book to go by, then it can be a tall order. I would recomend going to Auto Zone ---- BUY THIS: Haynes 24048 Chevrolet Lumina Monte Carlo and Impala Haynes Repair Manual for 1995 thru 2005 Front-wheel Drive Models (like $16.00). Then, may a bee line for NAPA and buy your brand new alternator there. It will cost a lot more but it will surely last the life of the engine as opposed to Autozone's Refurbed Crappers. Those go out too fast for as much work as you have to go through to replace the alternator on this engine. Be sure to compare the bracket fittings on the new alternator against the original. You may, more than likely, have to remove the old pulley and place it on the new alternator. For this you would need a "Pulley Puller". You can rent this at AutoZone. Also, DON'T FORGET TO UNHOOK THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL ON YOUR BATTERY BEFORE ANY ELECTRICAL WORK IS DONE TO YOUR CAR AND REMOVE ANY METAL JEWELRY AS WELL. I SAW A GUY NEARLY LOSE HIS FINGER BECAUSE OF HIS WEDDING RING GOT STUCK BETWEEN THE TERMINALS ON THE STARTER SOLENOID. GOOD LUCK!!
