Well, they certainly didn't design this engine to make it easy to work on. besure and let your car cool off before you try this. You'll be working very close to the exhaust and engine.

1. Disconnect the battery's negative cable.

2. You'll need to raise the car off the ground, either on a set of ramps or with a jack and two stands. Do NOT try to work on the car while it's on a jack. This is dangerous.

3. The starter is located behind the engine, between the engine and the firewall, right about the crossmember and the catalytic converter.There are two bolts that hold the starter on. You'll need a 3/8" drive socket wrench, a long extension and a 14mm socket. for these two bolts.

4. One bolt is under the starter. It must be accessed from below. I found it easiest to go in from the right side, over the suspension and exhaust. You'll needa little elbow grear to loosen it at first but once you break it free, it comes out easily.

5. The other bolt is located above the starter. You have to remove the air cleaner box and house that goes to the fuel injector area. You can look down and see that head of the bolt. use your socket to remove this bolt.

6. Now get back under the car, pull the starter out and and take off the 12mm nut that holds the two wire on a bolt on the starter and then pull off the plug that also clips onto the starter.

7. You'll have to pull the starter out through the right side above the suspension to get it out.

8. Now reverse the baove steps to put in your new starter!.

I realize that this is going to sound pretty dumb BUT....... Take the turn signal apart, totally, and wire brush all the connections very well. It sounds like you are getting a feed back through the ground. Do the same with the headlights. Put a little dielectric grease on the bulbs before putting them back into the sockets.

see what the rpms are at. The vehical may have a govener at a certain speed or or rpm

This information can be found in your owner's manual. If you do not have one, you can obtain one from your dealer or a salvage yard. If it has over 75,000 miles on it, replace the belt. If it has an interference engine, then severe engine damage can occur if the belt breaks. My manual for my 92 prizm states every 60,000 miles for timing belt replacement, the same for valve adjustment. But if the valves aren't making a "ticking" noise I woudn't bother with them.

look in your owner's manual It is under the hood and is called the power distribution box.

It's located in between the air filter box and the throttle body. There is an electrical connection attached. A dirty Mass Air Flow Sensor is often the culprit when the car runs bad. Usually, it kills when accelerating from a dead stop. Remove the sensor by disconnecting the hose clamps. It is a small wire that is resembles an antenna. Spray it with electrical contact cleaner but don't touch the element. You might break it because it only as thick as a human hair. The cleaner will evaporate so don't worry about wiping it up. Be carefull when reassembling the hoses and the two large clamps because if you get an air leak the engine will run lean and may trigger the check engine light. After it's all together you won't believe the increase in performance.

I clear the check engine light with a Scangauge II. But most ODB-II devices can read and clear the code.

I can't say for sure, but I have a 2001 Prizm and called some mechanics to look into having the belt changed, and they told me I didn't need to because it has a chain.

According to the repair manual from 1993 through 1997 the Prizm used a timing belt and was an interference engine.

From 1998 until end of production the Prizm used a timing chain. same with its mechanical twin, the Toyota corolla.

If you mean how long to go in between oil changes, I think that even under the severest conditions every 2000 miles should be fine.

there is little bulbs in the instrument cluster that are burned out replace them and the dash lights will work again and you might have bumped the dimmer switch for the dash lights also ive done that b4. get a haynes manual and it will show and explain to you how to do it ive got a 1998 prizm not very much different than yours.

Go to your local auto parts and buy Gear Oil. It takes about 1.5 quarts.

The fuel filter is located inside the tank.

The blower motor resistor is bad and goes to high fan.

The oil capacity on a 1996 Geo Prizm is approximately 5 quarts. The recommended oil type is 10 W 30.

There are several things that can cause your day time running the light relay switch to malfunction in your 2001 Chevy. The most common cause is a loose or corroded ground wire.

You'll have to take the rear seat out. Then you'll see an access hole to the fuel pump. After that, it's pretty much the same procedure as any other fuel pump.

All Prizm models were powered by the same engine as the Toyota models, All Prizms were built at a joint venture plant between Toyota and GM. Aside from small cosmetic differences , radio, front stabilizer bar, the Prizms are identical to the Corolla.

There isn't a fuel shutoff switch on General Motor's cars.

Follow the lower radiator hose to the engine. The hose is connected to a housing(under the distributer) which is bolted to the engine with 2 bolts. the thermostat is located under the housing, with the spring side of the thermostat facing the cylcinder head.
