Where are the sparkplugs on a 2003 4.2 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

Hello, the spark plugs for this vehicle are under the plastic cover on top of motor that says Vortec. Take this cover off with 2 bolts on pass side and disconnect air intake hose on both ends. Once you have that cover off you will see 6 covers in a row from front to back each cover has a wire connection and 1 bolt. remove the 1 bolt and pull cover off might be somewhat tight as it is basically your plug boot, but be careful not to pull to hard on cover unless you disconnect the wire connection as it is your spark plug wire and if damaged will be a bigger job to fix... Under this covers you will see your plug down inside you will need a deep well socket and 2 short extensions or a long one 6' or better. The first on closest to the front is a pain as you have to raise the wire harness cover to get bolt out and the back one will be tricky as well it is right under firewall and will need an elbow for socket. Be careful not to put to much added force as it is an aluminum block and can strip threads. Apply anti-seize compound to new plug threads before installation will reduce risk of stripping threads when putting new ones in. Hope this helps, best of luck! Scott.

Are the bolts holding brake caliper left or right hand on 2003 Chevy Tracker?

The bolt threads on my 2003 Chevy Tracker's front brake calipers are traditional (right to tighten, left to loosen). These are small bolts, not traditional pins that you see on most brake calipers. I've had to use an Allen wrench to loosen the pins on my other vehicles' brake calipers (Jaguar, BMW's, Honda, Cadillac).

On my Tracker, I used a regular 12 mm socket to loosen the two bolts holding the caliper to its mounting bracket (you could use a crescent or open/closed end wrench as well as there is easy access).

They have an interesting arrangement for the brake pads. They stay positioned against the rotor when you move the caliper off. There are small brackets that traverse to both sides of the rotor for the pads to slide into (inboard and outboard). This makes removal and replacement quite simple. I just gently tapped them out. The pad with squealer goes on the inboard side.

My Tracker, which we bought new, did not have a squealer on the driver's side. The old pads were virtually worn down to nothing when the squealer on the passenger side front wheel began making noise. The replacement pads I bought at Autozone ($22 counting tax with a limited lifetime warranty) had squealers for both the driver and passenger sides.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1996 Geo Tracker?

I'm in the middle of this job on a 1995. Found out the hard way (didn't read the service manual close enough) that you must remove the timing belt to do this job. So much for what I thought was going to be an easy task.

How do you adjust the belt tensioner on a 99 Chevy Tracker 20?

There are two belts on the 99-04 chev tracker. One is the large serpentine belt which drives the coolant pump, power steering etc. and the other is the small belt which drives the radiator fan. I'm assuming you mean the serpentine belt. Firstly, the belt tensioner on my 2000 2.0L tracker is spring loaded and as far as I can tell, shouldn't need to be adjusted. I had a problem with my tensioner as I live in a northern climate where they salt roads in winter time. The salt worked its way into the tensioner causing the spring to seize and once the belt stretched over time. it became quite loose. Apparently this is a common problem, not just with salt, but also moisture causing the spring to rust and stick. To change the tensioner, first tremove the serpentine belt. There are two bolts, one just below and to the right of the power steering pump, and the other to the right of the alternator. Remove these and replace tensioner. Look in wrecking yards for another tensioner if you wish to save money as the part was $180 Cdn at my local NAPA store and $40 from a junk yard. Don't throw out your old tensioner as it is still usable. Fill a large empty coffee tin with vegetable oil or sewing machine oil (not motor oil, or used oil) and put the old tensioner in there. Leave it sit and soak in oil until the new tensioner seizes. I have the NAPA tensioner on my tracker now, and the original and the junk yard tensioner in oil in by basement for spares. Hope this helps!

What happens if glass falls into spark plug hole?

Um, you probably shouldn't have had glass around the open spark plug hole in the first place. this could make it hard for your spark plug to fit into place, or even send the spark to the cylinder. You will have to take apart the head and remove the glass depending on how big the shard, or piece is.
