What does bevel do or mean in 3ds max?

If you have geometry, you can select a face or group of faces and bevel them, bevelling 'extrudes' the faces but then gives you the option to shrink or enlarge the selected face(s).

An example of bevelling would be to take a cylinder of 2 units radius and 5 units high apply an edit mesh modifier, in polygon mode select the faces at one end and select bevel, extrude it 1 unit by clicking on the selected area and without unclicking, dragging the mouse until the extrude spinner says 1. Then release the mouse button and drag again until the bevel spinner says -1, click to finish. Next extrude the same distance but bevel out. Next extrude 7 units, then repeat the bevel in and out as before. next extrude by 5 units again. You then have a Christmas cracker! Hope that helps!

How many amps should an 18-volt circular saw draw if you want it to have equal power to a corded saw?

It is not possible to answer the question with any specificity because of a lack of info, but perhaps the following will get you on the right track. Electric motors -- on pool filters, vacuum cleaners, drills, saws, whatever -- can be rated in either amps (A) or horsepower (hp) or watts (W). While horsepower and watts are units of power, an amp is not. But if you know the voltage, you can calculate the power in watts, since watts are just amps times volts. If a motor is energized by 18 volts and draws 1.5 A, it's power consumption is 27 W (18 x 1.5). To convert watts to hp, just remember that one hp equals 746 watts. So if your corded saw is rated at, say, 0.25 hp, that's the equivalent of 186 W. Dividing that by 18 volts yields 10.36 A. DAMN, that's a lotta current!

Are there drills that drill square holes?

Yes, they are generally based on Reuleaux triangle shape, which is mounted eccentrically so points on its contour track a square shape when rotated.

Another way to "drill" a square hole is with a mortising bit. A mortising bit is composed of a regular round drill bit inscribed within a hollowed square chisel. Most of the material is removed by the drill bit while the corners are squared-off by the chisel.

What is the history of the table saw?

hoaleboi7@aol.com

Per Wikipedia.org, the book "Woodworking Machinery, Its Rise, Progress and Construction 1800-1880" claims that the first recorded patent for the circular saw was in 1777 to an Englishman, Samuel Miller. However Miller references a circular saw created in Holland in the 16th or 17th century as an inspiration for his work.

Based on this, most believe the concept of using a circular saw blade to cut wood that was pushed into, and towards it, probably developed sometime in the late 1700s or early 1800s. Note, this was obviously before electricity, thus, these early saws, which were the forerunners to table saws, used human power, via foot pedals, or water power to drive the saw blades. This is why many early saw mills were built along rivers to capture water to power a water wheel and saw blade.
