Why did D-Day have to occur at Normandy France?

It didn't, it could have been at several places on the French coast.

Calais was the prefered site at it is closest to England, but the Germans also knew this and fortified and armed it so heavily that an attack there was almost suicidal.

Normandy was the second choice because it was next closest. The Germans also knew this but a heavy deception program by the Allies convinced the Germans that if Normandy was attacked it would only be a diversion prior to attacking Calais. The deception worked and the Germans did not arm Normandy as much as they could have and at the last moment removed reserve Panzer tank units from Normandy to Calais, leaving just the opening the Allies had hoped for.

There were other beaches north of Calais that could have been a third choice.

What were boarding schools in 1940's England like and what did the boysgirls do on weekends for fun?

English boarding schools in the 1940's were considered to be very prestigious and therefore highly coveted. Parents who were able to afford boarding school preferred to send their kids to boarding school. They were known for having a much better education than any other schools. The boys and girls would play outside, listen to music on a communal record player, read, and play games. Most boarding schools allowed kids who were over 11-12 years old to visit town on Saturdays to spend their money, if they had any. Sometimes the boarding schools would offer a film show on the weekends. With the war going on during the 1940's, boys and girls did experience rations and had to do without some of the stuff they were used to at home, pre-war.

What kids movies popular in the 1940s?

Cartoons by Disney- including feature length ones, comedies such as Abbott and Costello, meet me in St. Louis, Not all in Hollywood was Olive drab and Battleship Grey in War II, but much was. An interesting fact is very few science fiction movies were made in the US during the War unless one counts (Tarzan) films which were, of course, politicized with fights with Nazis, etc.
