computer should be located against passenger side fender just above wheel well, remove the wires from the battery, allow a few minutes for any electricity to discharge from system before touching anything, disconnect the three harnesses going into computer, unbolt, remove, replace, rebolt, reconnect harnesses, reconnect battery, allow couple minutes for system to charge before starting it, after starting it let idle for 10 minutes so the computer can re map the system.

First of all it is the PCV valve and not PVC(the plastic). The PCV valve is located on the valve cover towards the front of the vehicle,nearly 4 inches from the oil dipstick. It is inserted in a rubber grommet on the valve cover and is connected to a hose about half an inch in diameter. Both the hose and the grommet are fitted to th PCV valve by merely pressing them in. First press the hose on the PCV valve then seat(press) the PCV valve into the grommet.

you can find some info in a haynes or chilton manual from advance auto parts or auto zone. i have a 1997 dodge Dakota and i replaced the evaporator core,which is inside the ac unit under the dash.you have to pull the dash out.To do this you'll need to disable the airbag,so you do not set it off,when you pull the steering wheel off.you have to pull the steering wheel to get the dash out of the way.then you have to unbolt the ac unit from the firewall.the bolts are on the firewall under the hood. I think there are 4 of them.there is one behind the bracket that holds your ac accumulator to the firewall,that's the toughest one to find.once you get it unbolted from the firewall it should be easy,assuming you have disconnected all your ac refridge lines and your heater hoses under the hood that are attached to it. the book tells you most of it.some you will have to figure out yourself. i struggled a little,because i had never done it before,but in the end i did it for $150 and my time,versus $938 the shop wanted to charge me. good luck,hope I helped.

you have to change them one at a time this way you cant mixup the wires cap the plugs to spec this can be found under the hood on a sticker or in the owners manual

I have an 88 as well and my light was on for the longest time but since the 88 model has what they call an EMR module (Emissions Maint. Reminder) located below the headlight on the back of the instrument panel. So there is a little whole on the module that you can just push a screwdrive or something of that sort into the whole to reset the light.

There should be an "Emissions Adjustment and Routing" label on the underside of the hood that shows a vacuum hose routing schematic and the location and name of the different emmissions control assemblies. It'll give you an idea where to look. On my '92 3.9L V6 the EGR is located on the top rear of the engine, between the throttle body and the firewall.

Not likely. The smog or film on the inside of the windshield is primarily comprised of outgassed silicones used to preserve the interiors of cars. You can use cleaners to soften, spread, and clean towels to remove, but as far as I understand, nothing will remove this.

As a potential hazard when the window fogs or when streaked during cleaning, not sure why the automakers have not addressed this issue, nor why there are not outgassing limits or standards that exist.

On a 1997 Dodge Dakota, the factory amplifier is located in the passenger side kick panel, directly in front of the door. The amplifier should be hooked directly into the speakers.

It is inside either the body computer or cluster and can not be removed.

The brake pad clearance is quite close and sometimes turning will result in a light scraping of the brakes against the rotor. If that happens it's usually an indication that the brakes are worn.

A wheel bearing can also be worn and be most noticeable when turning.

Faulty CV joints can be noisy when turning as well.

If you have oversized tires or non-standard wheels the tires can rub against the fender.

You can check the owners manual for the 97 Dodge Dakota to determine if a T56 transmission will work with the car that has a 318 engine. Also, you can take the care to a certified mechanic as well to verify.

SOMETIMES IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED YOU WONT BE ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK. TRY JIGGERING THE STEERING WHEEL AROUND.

Just had this done on my 2002 4wd Dakota for about $160 including a pinion repair kit installed at a NAPA repair shop. 2004 shouldn't be much different. I think the pinion repair kit was about $30, so less that if you don't need it.

It kind of depends on what type of car/truck you have. Most fwd vehicles have the speed sensor in the transaxle above one of the axles. To change it usually requires removing a bolt and pulling out the sensor. Rwd vehicles either have the sensor in the transmission, transfer case(4x4) or in the rear differential. The replacement procedure is similar.
