if your engine is ideling like crap and it wont stay running unless you are holding on the gas check your heads i am having the same problem with the gas smell and i had a valve seat drop out on me on my number 7 cylinder if they are fine check your idler air control it may be throwing to much gas into the cylinder

Get out your VISA card! This is a $1200 nightmare. I can say with almost 100% certainty that you have a hole in your AC accumulator, which is located intertwined with the heater core, behind the passenger side of the dash. Remove the ashtray and you will see it, but replacing it requires removal of the dash and passenger side airbag (which is a .22 cal hazard). Mine died at about 100k miles, right after I spent $1200 replacing the heater core. If you have someone do this for you (and I don't recommend doing this yourself), spend the extra $80 and have them replace the heater core too. You can ask anyone, this is a job for the professionals, unless you like airbags exploding in your face... Good luck!!

Changing the front brake pads is a relatively easy procedure.

First, loosen, but do not remove the lug nuts holding on the tire you are wishing to begin.

Second, place a wheel choke behind the back tire and jack up the front wheel you will be removing. Once jack up to where the tire can move without hitting the ground, place you support brackets under the vehicle and take the tire off. Once the tire is removed, lower the axle down onto the support. While you have the wheel off, I always take the opportunity to really scrub clean the inside of the rim. The brake dust makes a mess up there and car washes can never get it clean.

Third, there are two bolts which hold you caliper in place, they are on the back side and you can easily see them, as they are relatively long. Remove these and you will be able to "wiggle" you caliper assembly off of the rotor. Have a piece of wire of something to support the caliper, as you do not want it to hang by the brake fluid hose. That causes unnecessary wear.

Before moving onto the next step, I would have you consider replacing your rotors before getting this far into the job. They are relatively inexpensive and if your rotors are worn and uneven your new brake pads will not give you all the bite they were designed to.

Fourth, pop the pads out of the caliper and using a "C" clamp, depress the plunger back into its housing slowly. This forces the brake fluid back up the hose and prevents you from having to bleed the brakes.

Fifth, insert the new brake pads, replace the rotor if you have chosen to do so, and slide the assembly back into place on the rotor. Keeping in mind to make sure to hook your calipers securely against the notches they sit against.

Six, Reinsert the bolts holding the assembly in place.

Seven, Jack the axle up off of your support, and remove them from under the vehicle.

Eight, Put your tire back on and secure the lug nuts. Remember, alternate the tightening of them using "across the clock" pattern. Don't forget the wheel choke behind the back tire.

Now you are finished, take the truck out for a test drive at low speeds. Prior to moving out of your parking space, ensure you have pumped the brake pedal 5-6 times and that you have enough braking power. If you have any hesitation about it, DO NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE! Jack the car back up and confirm that all steps were taken and everything is securely tightened.

This should take about 45-60 minutes your first time. Once you do it a couple times you will find that it takes longer to get the tools and everything together than the actual change over.

easiest way to tell is if you have antifreeze on the carpet or the pad under the carpet. Be sure not to mistake the wetness for just plain water that could be coming from a potential a\c drain that could be stopped up.

You can remove the headlamp and drill a small hole in the bottom but this is not recomended.the correct way is to simply replace it

Excuse me if I'm wrong because I don't know everything. So I'm gonna take a stab at this with what I do know. ( you didn't specify what model) On a 2001 dodge 2500 5.9L 24 valve Turbo diesel; if the speed sensor goes out, your speedometer will not work, the cruise control will not work, and the ABS and brake lights will remain "on". Some times if it is erratice or bad, the speedometer needle will bounce around. Sometimes the above symptoms will all occur simultaneously and sometimes randomly but rest assured they will all occur pretty quickly. The rear speed sensor on this vehicle is located on the upper front center of the differential and is relatively easy and inexpensive to replace. I won't go into further detail but you can read all about it if you visit your local auto parts store and purchase an after market shop manual for your particular automobile. It will make a splendid, wonderful and special addition to your technical library.

You can buy the parts yourself by going to some place like autozone for around $40 and take them to a local shop and they will charge you labor to put them on of around $65

There are 2 fuse boxes in Rav4s (that's how it is in my 2002 Rav4). One is under the hood on the right hand side, the other is located behind the compartment where your left knee touches when you drive. The schematics are printed under the boxes that cover the fuses. Onur Diker.

the water pump is Timing Chain driven behind the engine . Just follow the bottom coolant hose to the back of the engine and that's where u will find the thermostat housing as well. The front engine cover and timing chain has to come off to replace the water pump. talk about a messed up design .......
