Hello,Just to let you know an 01 stratus r/t does-not have a serpentine belt; it has a drive belt and 2 others belts as well. I also have an 01 stratus r/t and when I went to replace i had found this out, basically if you have air,which most strat's do I believe its 2 to 3 belts you will need to change. also little heads up about this car, since you have r/t I'm assuming you have 3.0li engine, so if you plan to change timing belt, be sure to also change your water-pump at same time as it is driven off the timing belt, also one last thing, OUR cars are known to break the motor mount that is located right above belts I would highly recommend changing that as well, you will feel much more stable shifts smother idling

If I'm not mistaken, the ES models come with the 2.5L V6 engine, in which case the water pump is located underneath the timing belt and timing covers on the RH (passenger) side of the engine. Having replaced one myself, it's not a simple, straight-forward job. You can pretty much wreck your engine if you don't get the timing belt back on correctly, so unless you're fairly a experienced home mechanic, that might be a job for a shop.
If you do decide to tackle the job yourself, one tip that I didn't know was that removing the power steering pump bracket will go a LOT easier if you remove the intake manifold first. I know it sounds like a lot of extra work, but it took me two hours to get the three bolts out with the manifold in place.
Finally, be sure to check the water tube that carries the coolant from the thermostat on the opposite end of the engine. Mine was corroded and had to be replaced (another painful job in itself - I had the engine just about down to a bare block by the time I got access to all the parts I needed to).

The starter is located on the bottom of the front side of the engine (front being front of the car) there is two wires connected to it. One wire has a rubber seal over the 12mm nut and the other wire is just connected by a clip that slides on and off. Also the Exhaust will need to be unbolted from the front manifold in order to fit the old/new starters in and out. There are three bolts connecting the starter, two on the right side and one on the left going through the block into the starter mount(the one on the left is kind of tough to see and reach)

How do you change the spark plugs in a 2001 Dodge Stratus?
1. Pull the hood release lever located under the dashboard.
2. Walk around to the front of the car, reach under the hood, find the latch and squeeze it. Open the hood.
3. Find the spark plugs, located in a row along one side of the engine (on an in-line four-cylinder engine) and attached to thick wires, called spark plug wires. Cars with V-shaped engines (which can have four, six or eight cylinders) will have spark plugs and spark plug wires on both sides of the engine.
4. Change one spark plug at a time, always putting the plug wire back on before changing the next spark plug.
5. Pull off one spark plug wire where it attaches to the plug. There is a little rubber boot at the plug end of the wire; pull on this part. Pulling higher up on the wire can damage the spark plug wire and cause it to separate.
6. Blow or wipe away any dirt or debris around the spark plug. You do not want anything to fall into the cylinder while the spark plug is out.
7. With the spark plug socket and a ratchet, remove the spark plug by turning it in a counterclockwise direction. You may need an extension for your ratchet if the spark plugs are deep-set or not directly accessible. Ratchets with flexible heads are especially helpful for hard-to-reach spark plugs.
8. Check the spark plug to make sure it needs replacing. A good spark plug should be lightly coated with greyish brown deposits. If heavy deposits are present, if the spark plug is black or if the electrode or core nose are damaged, the plug needs to be replaced.

I just changed mine by taking out the back seat. It's a tight squeeze trying to get the pump casing out of the little hole that's there, but it does fit. You think they could have made the hole just a little bit bigger.

You don't even have to jack the car up at all to change the oil. Just reach up under and unscrew that bad boy.. It is located near the passenger side front tire underneath of the engine. Lying on your back under the front bumper, it will be upwards to your right side.
