Even though I like both, I'd still have to say Dodge. They have a higher nickel content in the metal of the engine, so the cylinders wont wear down as fast. Also, Ford has had WAY MORE recalls than Dodge has had... Some Examples are...

REMOVE THE TIMING BELT UPPER HALF COVER, TAKE THE NUMBER 1 SPARKPLUG OUT, TURN THE CAM SPROCKET UNTIL THE SLOT IN THE CAM SPROCKET IS ALIGNED WITH THE TOP CENTER OF THE HEAD OR VALVE COVER. LOOK AT THE #1 PISTON TO MAKE SURE IT'S AT THE TOP OF THE SHAFT. TAKE OF THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP, THE ROTOR SHOULD BE POINTING TO THE #1 CYLINDER PLUG WIRE. WHEN ALL OF THESE ARE IN LINE, THEN YOU HAVE THE CORRECT TIMING. FIRING ORDER IS 1-3-4-2.

Passenger side front to back. 2-4-6.

Driver side front to back. 1-3-5

I'm not sure if you can on that model. If it has a distributor, you can loosen the hold down bolt and turn it to advance or retard your timing. If it doesn't have a distributor, it set by the ecm.

i have a 96 neon and yes it is on that model, you have to go on/off on/off on in under 5 seconds, don't try to start it though, it will flash the check engine light- three flashes, a short pause, and five flashes means code35, then a longer pause and then the next number, when it gives you code55 that means its done. it will not show you all known codes for the car though, you can get it done at autozone though free. to get the meanings of the codes i suggest a haynes auto manual for your car (at autozone bout 15 dollars) easy to understand lots of pictures its how i knew to do the test on mine good luck crazymat That does work on a lot of Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge products.
