The flag of Europe consists of a circle of 12 golden (yellow) stars on an azure background. It is the flag and emblem of the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Union (EU).[3] It is also often used to indicate eurozone countries, and, more loosely, to represent the continent of Europe or the countries of Europe independent of any of these institutions. The number of stars does not vary according to the members of either organisation as they are intended to represent all the peoples of Europe, even those outside the EU, but inside the CoE.[4]
The flag was designed by Arsène Heitz and Paul M. G. Lévy in 1955 for the CoE as its symbol, and the CoE urged it to be adopted by other organisations. In 1985 the EU, which was then the European Economic Community (EEC), adopted it as its own flag (having had no flag of its own before) at the initiative of the European Parliament. The flag is not mentioned in the EU's treaties, its incorporation being dropped along with the European Constitution, but it is formally adopted in law.
Despite its being the flag of two separate organisations, it is often more associated with the EU due to the EU's higher profile and heavy usage of the emblem. The flag has also been used to represent Europe in sporting events and as a pro-democracy banner outside the Union.[5][6] It has partly inspired other flags, such as those of other European organisations and those of states where the EU has been heavily involved (such as Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo).
V-E or VE Day is Victory in Europe Day. This is the day that Nazi Germany surrendered, brining a close to World War II in Europe.

This situation involved introducing a bill to ban British subjects from aiding or participating in the slave trade to the French colonies, It was a smart move, as the majority of the ships were flying American flags, though manned by British crews and sailing out of Liverpool. The Foreign Slave Trade Act was quickly passed and the tactic proved successful. The new legislation effectively prohibited two-thirds of the British slave trade. In the long run, many MPs who had benefited from the slave trade lost their financial support, and ultimately their position in parliament. This opened the way for Wilberforce to make another attempt to pass an Abolition bill, when all previous attempts had failed.

I was taught to put my hand over my heart for the Pledge of Allegiance, but not for the National Anthem. While in my Uniform I salute during the Pledge, but I sing during the National Anthem, with my arms at my side. While I do not know if this is wrong or right, it is what I have been doing for over 40 years. ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- ----- REPLY: I was taught the same as you! When I searched around on the internet, I found a lot of different answers. This one seems to be as definitive as I can find--from the Cornell University Law School Legal Information Institute updated to 2/19/2009 at the address below:

Polyps are swollen, tumorous membranes. Could mean you have signs of tumors underneath the brain. Get it checked out! Presumably if you know you have polyps they are being checked out, ask the doctor, he/she is the person who knows. If it is a friend who has told you they have polyps, ask them, they are probably desperate to talk about it.
