for me it was a bearing that was going. unfortunately i did not find this out until it broke and took my engine with it. So i would have someone listen when you shut off the engine to see if you can pin point where it is coming from. Mine was the tensioner pully of the timing system. ANSWER for lindseycm:

my car does the same thing. ford dealership said it was a loose drive shaft and not worth fixing. I have a 99 zx2 that was doing the same thing. It drove me nuts. Turned out to be the crankcase breather filter, dealer only part, about 15 bucks. It is located on drivers side on top, near valve cover and air breather tube. Has two vaccuum lines hooked to it. Try disconnecting to see if noise stops. If the noise stops, replace it. Dealers don't normally stock this, so you may have to wait a day. Good luck.

It's the 100 amp fuse in the engine bay fuse box by the battery.

It can be done. If you have a whole donor car, it makes it easier. You have tho swap out the transmission in may cases, also have to swap out the FI wiring harness, ECM, and all the accessories (AC Pump, alternator, etc.) I would advise against it though. The Zx2 engine is a MUCH better designed engine than the 2.0 sohc in the sedan. The sohc's are notorious for dropping valve seats and causing the engine to dynamite. My 01 just did that. Its pretty much clockwork right around 120K, From what I've read, over 75% of the ones that end up in the wrecking yard, have been for that reason. Mine dropped a seat, shattered the piston, and punched a rod through the block... Since the sohc's are so hard to find, mine is getting a zetec

take the terminal + off your battery hold it to the - terminal for about 15 seconds it will go away but probably come back depending on what is wrong .if you take it to your local autozone they will hook it to a computer for free and tell you why it is on

In response to your question I have a 03 Sorento the vehicle from hell.

Recently the drl (day time running light) fuse relay went.

That is the daytime running light fuse it controls the headlights and the brake lights and the fog lights. So keep an eye on it.

The fog lights went first then about a month after that all the lights went. The dealer told me the relay wasn't cheap $350.00. This wasn't what I was expected after having to spend $5000.00 on a engine and after spending 2500.00 on a crank bolt and 100.00 on belt. What the hell, spend more money on drl but just keep an eye on the brake and head lights the fog light is the first sign its going.

the sensor is on the the thermostat housing, youll see one on top(fan sensor)the other is underneath the housing.the housing will have to be removed to change it

Temp sensor on tube just under coil pack It is the one with the weatherpak connector replace that and I'll bet you it will work. i got the same problem but i repalced that sensor and it still doenst kick on and the motor still over heats i have replace the anti-freeze if the guy who answerd the ? before me knows anything else that would work thanks jeff-ke7ace My 93escort lx has 3 different relays that control the fan motor. one of them fried and the fan would no longer work. Try locating them and see if they look burnt.A shop told me where to find the relays. On the '93 there is also a fan switch temp sensor. If this is not working the fan will not come on when the temp rises. Does the fan come on when you turn on the A/C? Turning on the A/C should bypass the temp sensors and force the fan on if the fan motor itself is good. Unplug the fan motor and see if you have twelve volts at the connector when the temp is up or the A/C is running. Also if memory serves the relays are on the passenger side firewall near the top.

All ZX2 Engines are double overhead cams. Thus the 2 in ZX2. If it is a single cam it is just an escort.

Don't know what it is supposed to be but I had mine checked because I thought that I had one low. All 6 cylinders were between 145 and 150 psi and my engine is in good shape. I turned out that one of my spark plug leads was leaking. I do know that all cylinders should be within about 10 - 15psi of each other.
