My best advice to you is to invest about $12.00 (at my local AutoZone) for a small Haynes Repair Manual. This small manual will give you all of the instructions and photos needed to do the job. Unless you have over 150,000 miles on your Escort, they're probably just fine.
I did find that it was easier to support the engine with blocking from underneath and pull the engine mount to get out the plastic timing belt cover. Other than that, the manual takes you through it step-by-step. It only requires basic tools (other than a puller for the crankshaft) and is quite a simple procedure.
If you don't have a gear puller, either buy a cheap one at Harbor Freight (that's what I used) or borrow one from your local parts house. AutoZone and Checker Auto loan their tools for free with only a deposit until you return them.
I would say "Good Luck", but you won't need it. It's really easier than it seems.

Timing for the escort ZX2 is obtained by locating top dead center (TDC) on the crankshaft for the #1 cylinder. Once TDC is obtained (usually with a crank locking tool) the cams must be aligned as well. The cams can be aligned by using the slots on the end of the cams nearest the coil pack. When both the crank and the cams are in these positions, timing is set and a new belt can be installed.
When installing a new belt it is important to use the correct timing set necessary for the ZX2. 98-99.5 versions used a 3 pulley timing set while the 99.5-03 versions used a 2 pulley timing set. DO NOT try to install the 3rd pulley onto the newer versions otherwise you will experience an extremely short belt life. Also of importance is to ensure that the timing belt tensioner is only set within the timing mark on the tensioner. Any more tension than what the tensioner marks measure will also prematurely wear the belt and cause it to walk off the cams

By the way, those hex bolts on the end of the cam shafts is a T55. Hope this helps.

On my ford aerostar I coudnt reach the bulb from behind so I had to remove the housing to get to the bulb. First the crome frame and then the headlight case. In the center of the headlight case is the bulb housing. There is a clip that has a tab and you lift it up and pull out. There is the bulb.
As long as it is not a heated mirror or any special type of mirror your local glass shop should be able to repair it for you. Cost in eastern pa would be about $45 ......if it is only the glass that needs to be replaced. Ebay also commonly has listings for both the entire mirror or just the glass.

the car has a cable between the key and the transmission shifter. if this cable is worn it can be very difficult to shift from park, and will only get worse. I just disconnected mine, but you will probably want to get a new one installed at any auto shop. In our 92 Camry, my brake switch had gone bad. We had not noticed the rear light out, but I had extreme problems shifting out of park to either drive or reverse. Once the switch was replaced, smooth sailing! The car was not sensing that the brake was depressed to release the gearshift button.

I have a '95 Contour but I'm sure it's the same for a '96. Firstly, there isn't a drain plug for the radiator. Sorry. But you can drain your radiator and coolant reservoir. When looking at your coolant reservoir or expansion tank, there will be two hoses that come out. One top and one bottom. Follow the bottom hose down to a conjunction of 3-4 hoses. There will be a hose that exits the bottom of the conjunction and runs under the car going towards the back of the car. It will be a fairly large hose with a hose crimp on it. undo the crimp and slide it back and CAREFULLY pull the hose off the tube. It will probably blast straight into the frame so be prepared. After letting all the fluids drain, You can reconnect the hose and run a radiator cleaner or a radiator flush through your radiator using your expansion tank. I would advise while you have everything drained, disconnect the two hoses from the reservoir and unbolt it from under the hood, and then clean it out. When I did it, it looked like a mix of mud and sludge coming out. Sorry for the long answer, but hopefully it's thorough and helps someone out.
