What could be the problem if your car sputters when you press the gas?
Could be several things... O2 Sensor, fuel issue etc. Most of the time you will find that it's simply the car's computer needs to be reset (due to dead battery or having the battery unhooked for a few minutes.
Heres a quick way to reset the car's computer;
make sure the car is warmed up
pop the hood and unhook the negative battery terminal
make sure that the terminals are not corroded, if so you need to clean them first (i use baking soda and water but most just use a wire brush)
with the negative unhooked, get in your car and press the brake pedal and hold for about a minute
get back out of the car and reconnect the negative terminal
start the car and let it idle for about 5 minutes
Drive the car around. be easy on it at first, because the car will sputter a little bit more than likely. The car is resetting several things, like the airflow detection etc.
If that doesnt help, then you probably need to try cleaing out the Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF)
Google that

The alternator is located on the passenger side of the car's motor. You are going to have to jack the car up and remove the passenger side front tire and the wheel well covering to get to it. Why does your 92 buick century stall when you apply brakes?
If it stalls when you drive then hit the brakes, and then restarts, it could be the TCC (torque converter clutch) solenoid. If it sticks closed, the clutch will remain engaged when coming to a stop and will stall the engine. Could also be a faulty EGR valve. Both are fairly easy fixes...get a Haynes manual, they'll walk you right through em.

I apologize but ACE is wrong on this question. ACE is talking about the Fuel First Inertia Switch or the fuel pump reset switch. The fuel pump relay is located under the driver side dashboard just above the fuse panel. It is located next to a large green relay that is the flasher unit. The fuel pump relay is black and yellow and should have 5 prongs. Neonebraska it is in the back in the trunk. it is on the drives side in the bottom, kinda in the floor then there should be a switch in there. its just a white push button ACE
probably a starter motor problem. Could just be a battery cable. They go bad a lot in 93 Probe. I've had to change my positive and negative. Very cheap problem to fix. I would check the ground to make sure It's grounded good to motor and battery. and inspect wiring.
