What are the head bolt torque specifications for a 1989 Ford Thunderbird 3.8L V6?

I have the shop manual in front of me with all specifications. I would be happy to assist you if I could understand what you mean...? "Head bolt" - - what head bolt - if you help me on this I will give you the torque spec! Cheers ...and if you do mean cylinder head to be bolted onto block - then it is as follows: Number the two rows of bolts as follows: top to bottom, left to right: 7,3,1,5 (top row) 8,4,2,6 (bottom row) For supercharged engine only (other engines have other specs!!!) Tighten the bolts in numerical order - * Tighten to 65-75 Nm (11-18 lb-ft for those that have not grown up...) * Rotate an additional 90 - 110 degrees (harder!) * Go to next bolt in sequence You do not need to retighten bolts later. This will do. Good luck.

How do you bypass the ac compressor on a 1993 ford thunderbird lx v6 with a serpentine belt?

If the compressor is in the path of the belts you will need to remove it. If it is outside the path you can simply replace the belt with a smaller belt. Serpentine belts are sized by their number of grooves and length. For example: a 50.5" circumference belt with 6 grooves wwould be : 6K505 or a variation of that. Take a wire and run it along the new belt path to get a idea for the length and count the grooves. Good luck! You would have to get a shorter belt. Why do you want to bypass it? Just unplug the compressor clutch or pull the fuse and use as is. The clutch will not engage and there will be no drag on the engine.

How do you remove the steering wheel on an 1988 Ford Thunderbird?

look at this website: autozone.com

On any Ford that DOES NOT have an airbag, you can remove the steering wheel by loosening the nut and running it out flush with the end of the shaft, then brace under the wheel with your thighs, while pulling on the top of wheel, then with other hand rap the end of the shaft with regular hammer... note "rap" not pound.

On those secured with bolt, loosen only a couple of turns and do the same. If the wheel does not free up, go to parts store and rent a steering wheel puller.

Center covers usually either snap on or have a few screws holding them on from the back of the wheel.

How do you replace the belt tensioner on a 3.8L Ford Thunderbird?

On my Taurus 3.0 engine, I used a wrench on the pulley bolt, and a pry bar to remove tension, allowing me to remove the belt. Then I used a star pattern socket to remove the nut.

Where is the turn signal relay in a 1989 Thunderbird SC?

If it has the corner lamps mounted in the bumper on the car, there is a little black box about 1.5"x1.5"x2" located under the dash on the drivers side. You may have to take off the plastic dash piece under the dash to see it. It is a 5 wire plug sticking upwards towards the dash into the black box. The actual turn signal relay (black box) is mounted on a tab coming down off of the metal dash assembly. I believe that the relay without corner lamps is in the same area. Not sure though because both thunderbird sc's that i have both have the corner lamps on them.

There should be a white sticker, either on the front clip or on the hood, that has the diagram of the "emission lines". If you do not have this sticker, your local library might have the service for your car in their reference section. The diagram will be in the manual, under either the engine section or emission controls section.
