Synthetic oil will burn in a waste oil furnace, however you have to keep in mind that it does have a higher flash point. There are a few ways to make it work. Energylogic Waste Oil furnaces advertise that they will burn synthetic. Other salespeople may claim that their furnaces can, but they are going against what the manufacturer says. So if you are going to be generating a lot of synthetic, this should be your only choice. The flash point of synthetic goes down with use. At a BMW dealership we are burning 100% synthetic with no problems. Because they run their oil changes at 15,000 miles the synthetic oil is thoroughly broken down and the flash point for 250 degrees. Unplug the fan switch and ground the wire if the fan stops replace the switch. If not you have an open between the coolant sensor (switch) and the relay. The coolant sensor for the fan is not the same sensor for the computer/fuel injection.

The main source of heat is solid fuel or wood, you light a fire like you would a wood burning stove, close the door, set your temp and you have heat (after the fire box heats up that is).

Now in a perfect world, the thermostat would control the heat of the house. That means when the desired temp is reached, the blower would shut off. Unfortunately that isn't the case. My blower is controlled by the temperature of the firebox so if the box gets hot, the blower blows hot air. Doesn't matter if the desired temp is 70 deg, if the box is hot, the blower blows. I had it go as high as 95 deg before shutting off.

The truth of the matter is you raise the thermostat to open the vent. When the blower kicks on you lower the termostat all the way to zero. When the firebox cools, the fan shuts off. YOu keep doing this until the temp you want is reached.

Now the way the electric part works is you set it for a few degrees below your desired temp on the fire side. THat way it kicks in if the fire goes out and stops producing heat.

Unfortunately, electricity prices are astronomical in my area in Ontario Canada and running electrical side as a back up has costed me as much as $600 a month.

The trick to using this appliance properly is finding the balance between how much wood you put in, how hot the firebox gets, and how warm you want your house.

I'm still experimenting with mine, but it seems like what you want to do is load up the firebox, and as soon as it starts producing heat, close the damper vent. That way the fire inside will burn slower thereby giving you a longer source of heat....

There is usually only two wires coming out of most blower motors. All you have to do is run a wire straight from the battery to one of them (use a toggle switch so you can turn it off) and the other one to a ground. It usually doesn't matter which one of the two wires you use they are not hot / ground specific. Try to use a wire that has some copper strands so it will not heat up and fail prematurely. If I understand your question correctly, your indoor fan motor is the one not running. If that is the case, the gurgling sound you are hearing is the refrigerant being pumped into the indoor coil. You need a new motor. If this is a gas furnace, you need a 115V motor; if it is a heatpump, you need a 230V motor.

I'm wondering the same question, I have 2 full tanks of home heating oil in my basement that is sitting there for the past 4 years now, is this oil still usable? I'd like to pump it out and give it to someone who uses heating oil.

turn off power to furnace and remove the bottom door to the blower compartment,the filter should be on the right side of the blower housing or it may be directly below the blower housing on the bottom of the furnace depending on how your return duct is run. hope this helps,FYI filters s/b replaced or cleaned every 30 days.

Here are some things to check. Is the thermostat turned up? Sounds silly but I went into many homes it was turned down, or the switch on the thermostat was turned to off Is the pilot lit? This assumes you have a standing pilot furnace. If it is spark ignition, does the park cycle start. Check all fuses and breakers
