HI, You press the button that says "time set" over it then while holding that button, you press the "tune" button > for the minutes. Its the same basic way for all three types of radios for the '97 Tracker. I hoope this helps and good luck. Steve H.

There is no timing chain. They use a belt. This should be replaced about every 60,000 miles. I suggest you go to one of the local chain auto parts houses and purchase a Haynes Manual. It will shows drawings and photos of most of the work you will do in your own shop on this vehicles. You may fine one on E-Bay for less than the stores.

It is not a big problem but you have to get the gears lines up correctly. Been too long since I replaced one on a 94 for me to remember where the marks are and how they should be set. Not too much trouble IF you do not turn anything when you remove the old belt. I suggest you check the manual and line them up with the old belt still on.

take a 3/8" ratchet, insert it into the square piece of the tension pulley till it loosens the belt enough to slip it off the pulley for the alternator, take out the bolts holding the alternator to the bracket, unplug the wires, and reverse to put new one on.

Check underneath for rust,get a lower price if car is car is rough. Brakes,starter,exhaust,battery, I have a 1995 with 200,000 if you like working on them go for it.

The Turn Signal 'blicker' relay is located on the same bracket that holds the ECM and other relays, like the Main relay, Fuel relay, and Horn relay. The fuses are also attached to this same main bracket. The 'blicker relay' is the three-pronged relay in the center and it is not easy to see nor replace from under the dash. Easier way to replace the blicker relay is to remove the left dash radio speaker cover and then remove the speaker. Then remove the two bolts (that also can be unscrewed with a Phillips ( "+" pattern) screwdriver) that hold the entire bracket that the ECM and all the relays are attached to. INSURE THE BATTERY IS DISCONNECTED to prevent blowing the expensive ECM ! Then slide the entire assembly forward towards the firewall and disconnect the connectors (do not force connectors off because some, like the ECM connectors, have plastic clips that have to be depressed while wiggling the connector free). Unscrew the fuse box to be able to remove the entire bracket assembly and you can then easily replace any relay or even the ECM.

The speed sensor for a 1996 Geo Tracker is located on the transmission housing. The speed sensor is important , it keeps track of the tires and delivers the figures to the main system

Hi, You can or have someone, usually a garage, reset the light by using a device that hooks up to the data port which is at the bottom of the dash where your right knee is. The most important thing is to have someone hook up a code reader and tell you what code is coming up that is turning the light on. When you find the code then you can be led to whatever sensor is the culpprit. As I have found that when it has been a long time on, there are or can be, a whole host of things wrong from the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) in the speedometer, the speedo cable, the EGR valve, the EGR bypass valve, the oxygen sensors...that's just a few. I thought I'd remove the bulb from the rear of the instrument panel but then what does that do? The problem still exists the indicator is only gone. The best bet is to have someone read the codes and tell you what is wrong, only then when the offending sensor or part is fixed, can the light be turned off and stay off. Can a 2001 Suzuki Vitara 2.0 Engine be swapped with a 2001 Chevy Tracker engine?

Replacing the oil pan gasket on a 1994 Geo Tracker is a pain because you have to remove the front differential to be able to drop the oil pan. Since you have to do that, be sure and check other things that need to be fixed at the same time like CV boots or ball joints.

What is the best type of motor oil for your Geo Tracker. People will tell you to use regular old oil and some will say to use a Synthetic. But it all comes back to YOU do some searching and find what you consider to be the best oil to meet the way you do things. Do you want to change the Oil every "3000 Miles" or every 15,000 with Mobil 1 Extended Performance or Would you like to change it Once a Year or 25,000 miles. Good Luck and Remember.

That's from page 6-12 of my owner's manual. I'd go by this. This should be on your engine too but nevertheless the manual is the way to go. Steve H.

`By disengage I assume you mean you can't change gears or get it out of gear. You may be able to change gears if it is not running. If this is so, it is one of several possibilities. You have a hydrolic clutch. The master cylinder can be empty, or more likely, the slave cylinder located on the transmission housing is bad. You should be able to see the slave cylinder. Have someone push the clutch in and see if there is any movement in the slave. The clutch disc can be screwed up, but that's a long shot.

the cluth cable could be broken... i had the same problem but i bought a new one.

Hi, I'll bet on one of three things water pump, thermostat, or blocked radiator and the first is the thermostat then the water pump. Those are wher I'd go first. Good luck and please post the answer. Steve H.

*Thermostat on these vehicles are extremely suspect, as they tend to warp and fail if an engine overheats. Thbey are SUPPOSED to fail "open"

however, they can easily fail partially open, presenting a flow restriction to a slowly turning water pump (idle), and provide insufficient cooling.

Try looking under the dash on the drivers side, i belive you will see the fuel pump relay along with the "ECM".. good luck

The larger diameter hose is the low side.

A geo tracker gas tank should work on a sidekick from the same year or body style.
