How do you remove a lock cylinder for a 1988 gmc jimmy?
if it is the ignition lock cylinder, first disconnect the battery, you need to remove the steering wheel ,turn signal switch , etc, then you need to insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder, turn it to the run position, then pull the cylinder out, reverse the operation to install the cylinder,
you have to determine which pulley it is. if the sweak is consistent, it could be the tensioner, water pump, well these are the first to go. the serpentine doesnt control timing. and loose is a possibiity.
if you purchased the pickup when it was used then whoever owned it before you may have had the transmission and other things reprogrammed. If you have a tow/haul button that changes shifting conditions, but not by very much. The transmission can be reprogrammed to shift a little harder to reduce slippage or for kids who think they can have a faster truck... If it's a mechanical problem then that's a different issue...but if it isn't then i would look into finding out if it's been reprogrammed.
check to be sure your wiring harness for that door is plugged in and not pinched or otherwise damaged
You have a "Hot Wire" some place that is shorting out. You need to start following the wires to see if you can find the short.
Remove the Brake Light assembly and start there, working your way forward. Good Luck and Remember.

You've either got a bad Brake hose or bad master cylinder. Both these things can cause a caliper to stick.
How do you install a starter in a GMC Vandura?
It's pretty easy, actually. Just replaced mine, took about a half hour total. Plenty of room underneath the van to work. You have two main bolts holding the starter in. Pull them both, disconnect the wires from the solendoid. Put the new motor in, making sure the splines mesh up. If fitted correctly, the bolts will go right back in easily. Turn key, you're good to go.

Why does your 1989 GMC 1500k cut out when i start to get on it?
Make sure your fuel filter is clean. A dirty one will starve the engine when you get on it and couse it to cut out. Don't forget to check the sack filter in the gas tank. It could also be a cracked fuel line allowing air to suck into the system and starving the engine. Maybe even a bad distributor..
How do you raise the torsion bars on a 1994 Chevrolet Silverados?
Th etorsion bars run through the transmission crossmember. There are 2 large bolts as seen through the bottom of the crossmember, one on the driver, and one on the passenger. Locate these bolts first. Now jack up the front of the truck to releave some of the tension off of the bars. Then turn the bolts clockwise to raise the truck, turn them evenly and start with 1 turn at a time. After each turn, set the truck down and take it around the block to settle the front suspension. "Be aware of the lower balljoint angle, shock travel, and uppercontrol arm clearance to frame when raising the truck". Good luck,it worked for me. i might add that you should measure the distance from the bottom of your fender well to the center of the wheel hub on both sides before you start. this will give you a good reference point to see how much you have lifted the vehicle as well as allow you to lift both sides equally. 1-1.5" is about as high as you should go, 2" max. exceeding that will cause problems down the road. you will also have to get a wheel alignment done after adjusting the torsions otherwise you will have bad tire wear.

Will 15 inch wheels with 4.75 inch backspacing fit on a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado?
The rims should fit on that truck...the only concern would be if they upsized the brake pads from 1998. i have a 98 and had fifteens on it for a while without any problems. the 4.75" backspacing is just a measurement of how far the wheels will stick out...not 4.75 inches, but the difference between that and the factory backspacing. EX: if the backspacing on those rims from the factory are 3" your rims should stick out an additional 1.75 inches. hope this helps ya out! Why is my GMC Sierra showing a gas cap error code?
try replacing your gas cap and if that dose not fix it check the filler neck that tube that runs from the side of the truck to the gas tank make sure it is not loose. the reason that that code shows up is because newer cars and trucks have a vacuum on the fuel system and if there is even a slight leak in that system the computer will through that code also you can not top off the gas tank past where the pump kicks off or that will cause that code to show up
It could be the bulb(s), or possibly a faulty connection but if all bulbs are ok, it's probably the turn signal.
