How do you remove the front door panel on a 2001 GMC Sierra?
The original answer was wrong and confusing. So here are detailed step by step instructions. please forgive my bad grammar. - Tomyk89
there is a 7mm screw on the inside of the door handle (not the handle that opens the door).
now pop off the power window and lock cover and unplug the harness, there is another 7mm screw in there.
along the bottom of the door panel in the middle is the last 7mm screw.
once those 3 screws are taken off, all that's left is to pop off the plastic cover on the inside part of the mirror, and the plastic cover that surrounds the door opening handle.
now LIFT STRAIGHT UP on the door panel, do not pull out on the bottom or anywhere, as you could break the mounts. the door panel should fairly easily slide upwards.
now unplug the tweeter speaker wire, seat warmer wire (if applicable), and also the wire to the light & reflector on the bottom of the door panel.
now the panel should be completely detached from the door, and your good to go!

Where is the 'transfer case encoder motor' on a 2003 GMC Sonoma?
Its on the transfer case by where the front axle connects. It's a thin case with a motor mounted on it.
How do you make a 2 wd into a 4 wd?
You will need the following: 1. A transmission with a transfer case. 2. Different drive line to the rear. 3. Possible new rear differential that has a matching gear ratio to the NEW front differential. 4. New front differential and possible half-shafts. 5. Entire new front suspension. 6. Various and numerous other equipment too numerous to mention. I think it would be easier to just take off the radiator cap and drive a 4wd under it.
AnswerI always heard that it was better to keep the gas cap. That way you can repair your car while the engine is hot.
AnswerIn my opinion, it would be a waste of time and money to attempt that change. It would probably be cheaper to just buy a 4wd. Only do it if the truck has a sentimental value or something like that. Don't do it to just any old truck. Trust me there.
I agree with the buy an old truck and swap body, you can probably find a truck that is rotted out or has been trough a crash cheap with the drive train and all components intact you just have to be wary of the frame. There is an extra cross member for some trucks as well but if you are really handy you can make that for your frame and bold/weld it on. I have seen a truck frame made entirely custom with 6" Chanel and only cutting and welding tools.
How do you remove the door panels from a 2001 GMC truck?
Take off the corner panel- it is connected with tabs so it just pops off. Easy.
Now, the trick is to get the piece with the window/lock buttons off first- this is on by clips- you'll see two little slots to stick a screwdriver in and pop the piece up. Disconnect the wires- mark them to be sure the window goes back to window and door lock goes back to lock. The nice thing is you can now turn on your radio without that annoying "door open" beep going off- making the job that much more pleasant.
There are 3 screws (require 7mm socket) in that general vicinity that need to be removed. Pop the door handle moulding off, starting from the outboard edge. Pop the manual lock casement off with a screwdriver.
OK- now pull straight up- Before you walk away with it- be sure to disconnect the door light and titter speaker connections.
My truck is a 2002 2500. I would gather these instructions should be pretty close for all newer GMC/Chevy trucks. The trick is knowing what is clipped in and what is screwed in. If it doesn't come apart fairly easily- reevaluate what you are doing- you are probably overlooking something.

How to install an oil pressure sending unit?
Ok I'll bite. On our '92 Suburban (284k mi) it is located on top of the engine at the back of the intake manifold UNDER the distributor. Be prepared to remove the air cleaner and the distributor so number the wires. The original sender required a 1-3/16" wrench (how many folks have one of those) and of course the new one needed something different, slightly less than 1-1/6"(metric). Not terribly difficult other than finding it and I'll take it over to my auto shop guy to get the timing nailed down; I was able to get it close enough to get it started. This is the link I found a drawing that helped me located the unit on the engine: http://autorepair.about.com/library/illustrations/bl283a-lib.htm

Trailer lights dont work when vehicles light are turned on?
Check that the wiring between the truck and the trailer are connected. Unplug them and then plug them in again. Also check the fuses under the dashboard (if it is a moving truck, there are also fuses under the hood) to be sure they are ok. Finally, check the bulbs in the lights.
Why does my 1994 GMC Sierra take long to shift from first to second?
The transmission modulator is likely ruptured. Slide under the truck about even with the rear of the transmission on the passenger side. You should see a vacuum hose attached to a round metal modulator on the trans case. Pull off the hose and if trans fluid comes out it's ruptured.
