On our 1995 Grand Prix, the second gear start is automatic in adverse road condtions (Ice, Snow & Rain) I was told that when the wheels spin, it enables the Second Gear Start to provide better traction and power to the drive wheels.

Well I have done it 2 ways in the past. First way is with a kit that 3M makes and uses double stick tape which you affix to the trim around the window and then apply a sheet of plastic to the tape. After you put the plastic up you use a hairdryer to heat the plastic and it shrinks tight. It's a really nice way to do it but it's pretty expensive per window. The other thing is come spring, its not easy to get the adhesive off the trim. The other way I have done it is to buy a roll of sheet plastic ( like painters use) cut a piece a few inches larger than the area you want to cover. I stick it in place with a few pieces of tape. Then, I use thin strips off wood and tack those all around the window trim to hold the plastic in place. Works great and I don't have sticky adhesive to clean up in the spring!

you can see the plugs on the back of the light.

lift the trunk and look past the license plate . the twist out . righty tighty lefty lousy . pull them out. its tight but they come out. use needle nose pliars, but be gentle.

Hello,there three relays under the hood on the drivers side ,one is on thedrivers side fenderthis is the a/c cycling relay,two relays are on the shock mount tower,theone one the left is the starter relay,the one to the right of it is the fan relay!Check the plug going to coolant temperature sensor for spread sockets for fan problems also! GOOD luck

It probably has R134a, but may possibly have R12. There should be a sticker somewhere listing this. Most 1995 and newer cars have R-134a, but a few early production 95s had R-12.

I have a 94 not sure if they are the same but behind the license plate was mine Good luck

Answer Improvement (Sept 5. 2010)

Remove 4 license plate screws and licence plate

Remove 4 hex head screws that hold the license plate/backup light assembly

Rotate the license plate/backup light assembly around 180 degrees so you can get to the light bulb holders

Carefully turn bulb holders 1/4 and remove bulb holder

Carefully remove old bulb and replace with new bulb (#194)

Reverse these step to reassemble

Usually it's low brake fluid or a problem with the abs. Check the brake fluid reservoir. Often the brake fluid will go down as the brake pads wear and the calipers has to travel further.

With the car off, turn the key to the run position. Press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times . The car will chime and the Change Oil light will turn off.

My edcated Guess would be to open the hood, unscrew them and replace them.

bad sensor or exhibition speed(illegal) take to mechanic to check sensor ***This problem is most likely caused by an intermittant wheel speed sensor. The wheel speed sensor is contained within the hub assemble (wheel bearing). The sensor could be intermittant for two reasons: 1) Hub assembly is failing (quite common in these cars) 2) Wires coming from wheel speed sensor are damaged/corroded just inboard from the affected wheel (also common).

Try twisting or turning it. If it is frozen because of the cold, get a rag with hot water and hold it over the top of the dipstick. If it is not frozen, then that is not a good indication.

To replace the thermostat on a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am 3.1, first disconnect the negative battery terminal and loosen the clamp on the radiator hose. Next, remove the mounting bolts from the thermostat housing and insert the new thermostat.
