How do you set the timing on a 1994 Honda Civic?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It is correct that the computer controls most of the timing on a 94 civic, however it is very necessary to have the base timing set correctly. If the base timing is off, your car will not pass smog, as this is a requirement (found this out today... 2 failed smog checks).

To set the timing you must first find the jumper wires underneath the passenger side of the dash. Usually there is a blue connector. You hook these two wires together, using a paperclip or some conductive material to place the engine into base timing (it factors out the computer completely). From there you use a timing light like you would normally. sensor to #1 plug wire, power to battery. There are timing marks on the crankshaft pully. Point the light at the pulley and pull the trigger, then adjust the distributor to get the timing to specs (my car is 12 + or - 2 degrees btdc).

SRS light on 1989 Mercedes 300SE?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It means Supplemental Restraint System....or airbag in common terms. If the light remains on, my guess is that the system no longer works. It would cost about $2K to replace. Those cars are so safe, the seatbelt/shoulder harness should hold you in just fine.

Why is your 1992 diamante srs light on?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

On my '92 Diamante LS, I've noticed that the SRS light turns on when the battery's low on power. It could just be a massive coincidence, but I'd have the battery and alternator checked. If that doesn't solve your problem, have the airbag system checked -- that's one system you do not want failing.

it's possible, but the D16Y7 is an OBDII engine, D15b8 is OBDI, wiring would be difficult.

My brake lights dont light up when I step on the brake. I checked all fuses and replaced the bad ones. What is wrong?

Help for thedid you check to make sure the bulbs are ok? If you have then I think you will need to make sure that there is no corrosion in the bulb sockets and none in the wiring connections to the bulb housings. I was looking to correct the same problem. I have read elsewhere, that sometimes tightening the screws that hold the bulb sockets in might do the trick.

Alas, I (like you) hope it is not a short. Although, my radio in my 91 accord goes out sometimes too...weird. Anyway, I note also that there is no fuse for brake lights listed in the kickpanel access to the fuse box or the one under the hood. On that note, I have read elsewhere that the turn signal fuse may be at issue. Needless to say, this sucks.... cannot afford tickets for bulbs out. some, I am out -- cause I have to go fix my similar issue now while it is early. good luck JEM

How do you clean or replace the EGR in Honda Accord 2000 V6 2 Dr?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

This must be common as it happened to my 2000 accord at 94K. It is covered by warranty up to 80K I think, and the cost at the dealer is $385. ($98 parts and 3 hours labor) If anyone knows how hard this is I would like to know too. Thanks

Changing the EGR valve is only part of the solution. There is a special reamer that is required to properly fix the problem. Carbon buildup in the EGR passages is the real problem. You have to drill out the EGR passage and insert a stainless teel tube and then replace the EGR valve. The parts and special tool are available from any Honda dealer although the tool may be on back order.

Actually the government forced Honda to cover this under warranty up to 150K miles now. There is a Honda service bulletin that address this: 98-081 issued March 18,2003. I had this done by my local dealer...they also give you a free oil change and replace the distributor and spark plug wires. I've had 2 mid 90's accords and had this problem on both of them around 120K miles. Good luck!

AFAIK, the 98-081 only covered 95-97. From 98-02 only covered 'til 80K mi.

Where can you find free reverse auto license plate search?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

That isn't something that the public can do, as far as actually accessing government records.

However, there are sites where people can post information about a license plate and information they have observed associated with it. One of them is dialmylicenseplate.com.

It is similar to those sites where you can post a phone number and say that it was a telemarketer or prank caller, to inform other people about it.

How do you replace the bulb in the dashboard clock on a 1998 Honda CR-V?

User Avatar

2000 and onward Honda Odeyssey model has a problem of instrument panel light bulbs went bad early. To change them are not easy, would anyone can provide some solutions? Doug Answers: I am not very machancically inclined, but www.odyclub.com has great photos and step by step instructions, including a part number you can buy at Radio Shack. I bought the replacement bulbs at the dealer for about $5 for the clock and odometer together. Here are the steps, summarized. Go to www.odyclub.com to see the photos and details. It starts by saying disconnect the battery, then: 1. Grab the dash cover that surrounds the radio and air conditioner controls. Grab it on the left end, near the gear shift. Lift/pry it off. 2. Lift off the cover to the left of the steering column, the small one that surrounds the door controls. Lift from it's right side. 3. Remove the 6 screws that hold the top cover on. This cover surrounds the clock and instrument cluster, and contains the air vents. 4. Disconnect the wires from the back. 5. Twist off the light, insert the new one. If you buy the Radioshack bulbs, you have to wrap the leads back on to the base, and trim the excess wire. To get to the odometer light, there are two screws that hold the top of the instrument cluster to the underside of the top of the dash. Remove them, and pull the cluster out. You will see all the light bulb bases, twist out the old, and twist in the new. Button it all back up by reversing the order of removal. I did this whole thing in less than 30 minutes. The dealer wanted $120 to replace the two bulbs. I figured I saved $115, that's about $4/minute.

yes, try fibre glass bonnet and smaller lighter wheels, makes a big difference. have a friend that races his integra type r, he has all the seats out etc. not even a stereo!

The first answer is fine, of course we are assuming that the first automobile has a steel frame ( very often ) and the fibre glass bonnet & other improvements are being compared to a car with the same engine.
