Can a fuse appear to be good but in actual fact be blown?
Yes
I have seen several fuse that appear ok, and in fact are defective.
The best way to test, is with a computer safe test light, there not cheap but if you want to get serious about auto electric you need one.
To test fuses, you are generally safe with the cheap kind.
1) Plug in or clip on your test light. 2) Test your test light against a known good source for voltage. 3) Turn on the ignition switch. 4) Probe both sides of your fuse, the results should be the same. Note that one or two may be cold on both sides (or negative if you have a computer safe tester) They generally power the interior lights. 5) If you find a fuse that is cold on one side and hot on the other, you have found the monster. 6) Replace it with the same type and size.
IF all tests well and you have glass fuses, test the metal clip on both sides that it clips into. They may require cleaning, and careful bending from water/ rust damage. If you have plug in fuses, check the integrity of the fuse holder.
I have seen all types and sizes of fuse, especially glass, that appear good, but are blown.
Relentless
Best way to check a fuse is take it out of the circuit and test its resistance. A good fuse will have very low resistance (less then 1 ohm). A bad fuse will measure "Overload" on your meter. You can get a cheap meter from and local hardware store for ten bucks. Even bring the fuse with you. The guy at the store will probably check it for free for you. Good luck.
if it's the key in ignition chime just remove the upper and lower steering column covers and unplug the connector that looks like a horseshoe

What are the sizes of windshield wiper blades on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
The 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee wiper blade sizes are 21" wiper blades on both sides front and a special 14" rear wiper that is difficult to find in the stores. See sources and related links below for more information. Since there are currently over 22 different wiper arm attachments, do not buy wipers just by length only - be sure to lookup exact wiper blade part numbers by vehicle make, model and year for the brand wiper you decide to purchase. This ensures correct length AND correct attachment.
You need to do a parasitic draw test. Use a voltmeter to check base voltage of battery. Then crank the engine, check voltage at battery. It needs to be at least two more volts than previous base voltage. Then apply a load or turn on headlights. The voltage should not drop over one volt. Ideal base voltage at battery terminals is 12.6, ideal charging voltage would be 14.6, ideal loaded voltage would be 13.6 volts aproximately. If you find a drainage in system and you have a good battery, then you need to check radio and main accessories first, then check door latch switches and courtesy dome lamps. When do you Change transmission fluid in a 2004 Chevrolet Impala?
For best performance it would be best to do so every 30,000 miles.
Check the light dimmer switch inside. It should be on the left side of the steering wheel next to the headlight switch. More than likely it is pushed all the way over to keep the interior lights on.
How do you tell if fuses are blown?
Take a look at the fuse. When you hold it up you should see, on a good fuse, a small wire running from one side to the other. If you see the wire and it goes from one side to the other without a break then it is a good fuse. You can tell when they are bad because the wire will be broken and melted.

Where is the flasher located for a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo?
under the dash on the drivers side
Where is the backup light for the reverse on Jeep Cherokee Laredo?
It is on the same circuit as the brake lights, but if they are not working, and the bulbs are good your switch needs cleaning or adjustment.
Attempt this first since the switch costs nearly $300 bucks.
On the passengers side of the trans just behind the bell housing there is a fan shaped switch, loosen the 12mm bolt ( smaller of the two, and rotate the switch while a friend checks the lights. this problem is usually accompanied by an occasional inability to start the vehicle, but can be cured by jiggling the shifter.
While adjusting the switch make sure that the vehicle will start in park as well, remember to block the wheels while testing the back up lights, engine off, key in run but not start, shifter in reverse, move switch until lights come on.
Once you find this spot, hold it in place and have your helper check to make sure it will start. This may take several tries to get both working correctly.
If you have no luck the switch may be dirty, this happens a lot. Hold the post to the bottom large bolt still while you loosen the nut, then remove it, then remove the 12mm adjusting bolt on top, remove the wire connector and pull the switch away, remove the bolts on the switch and separate the halves, use electrical contact cleaner and maybe some q-tips to clean all the copper connections completely apply di-electric grease and reassemble, refit to the trans and readjust so all functions work, this switch controls back up and start safety.
Caution! always hold that bottom bolt while tightening the large nut, this is connected to the gear adjuster and you could damage the internals if it isn't secured while you do it.

1999 Jeep grand Cherokee Straight 6. The engine is knocking and just recently got louder Any ideas?
I had a car that did that years ago. to cut to the chase it finally made a real loud knock when one of the big ends came out through the side of the motor. the cam was broken in about 5 places and the sump looked like some one had fired a missile launcher through it. it could be a piston Little end shaft or bearing about to give up the ghost or the piston might be ceasing or a big end bearing may be packing it in. Perhaps you just need oil.
How do you fix the knockdown cable of a Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited?
> >I did a search for "knockdown cable" on Google. I even looked in the Chilton's Manual for the 1994 Jeep Grand >Cherokee. No good. Are you sure your terminology is correct?
Hi - This is familiar because I just did it myself about a month ago- I own a 95 Grand Cherokee 4.0L/Auto. I had the transmission replaced over a year ago and had to go back to the shop to have the Transmission_Throttle cable adjusted (I wasn't shifting in/out of 1st/2nd in the low ranges (15-20mph), they told me it was old and would need to be replaced if it happened again... it did about 6 months later this past March 2006... I bought the cable at the Jeep dealer for about $42.00 and replaced it in my driveway in about 30 minutes... simple replacement.. I used a Flatblade and pliers to remove the clips.
To adjust the cable: For me it was trial and error, but - The adjustment is in the form of a locking clip at the section of cable that connects to the throttle linkage. Pull out the clip with either your fingers, pull it up with the pliers, or poke it up with the screw driver (different Clip styles are made over the years I later learned). You have maybe 1.25" of cable play forward/backward... try adjusting in either direction and replace the clip each time, drive around the parking lot or side road and keep adjusting until you feel it shifting correctly.
The cable is also described in my HAYNES Jeep Grand Cherokee Repair Manual available in most local parts stores. Good luck
