How do you replace a water pump in a 2001 Kia Spectra?

long story short if you have to replace the water pump replace the timing belt as well to save money =time do as much as it as you can then hire a mobile machanic to replace and time the belt unless you know + have tools to do it yourself. If you pay some1 to do it ALLy our looking at $800-1k if you know what to do but dont have all the tools about $100-150. *The timing belt is under a black cover behind the drive belts [left side of engine] *you have to remove belts and one of the engine mounts to replace it so put a jack to hold the engine up * if you dont know how to install the water pump the mobile guy can do it but do as much as possible so he doesnt charge you as much so take everything out that you can even the water pump have the new belt and pump redy when he arrives. * once he arrives ONLY get him to install the water pump and the belt + time it .then put everything else back on after yourself or you are wasting money

2001 kia spectra gear shift is getting stuck you push the button in and it wont go into gear until it warms up but if you keep working with it it quits and then it goes into gear?

I've had this problem for a while now. We went camping this memorial day weekend and it did this to the point that no amount of waiting or pushing fixed it, we called a tow truck to get it back to town and when the tow truck driver got out there he fixed it right away.

To the right of the shifter is a small circular cap. Lifting that cap reveals a hole. At the bottom of that hole is a small button (you will need a long Phillips head screw driver or something of equivalent shape and size to reach it) depressing the button inside the hole will release the shift-lock and allow you to put it in drive.

The tow truck driver informed me that this is caused by a bad "shift solenoid". The shift solenoid (to my understanding) basically informs the shifter when the brake pedal is depressed, a bad one means that the shifter is not getting that signal and will not release the shifter for use. This is not a permanent fix, the tow truck driver was adamant in recommending having a professional take a look at it as soon as possible, and I will do this same and recommend to you to go get it looked at as soon as possible.

How do you change the shocks on a 2003 Kia Spectra?

That Kia doesn't have "shocks". It has struts, front and rear. They bolt in but you will need spring compressors to swap over the springs and hardware unless you purchase the struts "loaded" with new springs and hardware. Loaded struts cost aprox double what just the strut alone costs.

Airbag light stays on on your 2006 Kia Spectra?

Hi, the faulty part is called a clock spring and it is located inside the steering column. It is a device that allows the steering wheel to be turned without losing electrical contact with the airbag sensor in the steering wheel. Do not try to replace it yourself, take it to the garage, but do have it replaced as your airbag is likely non-functional. Ray

Where is the brake proportioning valve on a 2003 Kia Spectra?

The valve is located by behind the intake manifold. It has 6 brake lines coming off of it. Two Lines for the Brake Fluid Reservoir, Two on for the back tires and Two for the Front Tires. If you have brake fluid leakage at the firewall, replace the pistons in the proportioning valve with good ones. It seems that lots out there may leak, some don't.

Kia Spectra key stuck in ignition?

My 2007 sedona had the key stuck in the ignition. I was unable to turn it all the way back in order to remove it. I had it parked in my driveway and I was not comfortable leaving it sit overnight with the key in it. I disconnected the negative post of my car battery to feel safer with my problem. I found out that the key comes out easily after doing this. Unfortunatly if you reconnect the battery and insert the key it will lock up again. I took it to the dealer and explained my situation. Within 30 minutes the problem was resolved. According to them within the transmission shifter lever compartment there are a couple of screws and a pin that had come loose and the ignition was not recognizing the vehicle was in the park position, therefore the key cannot be removed. I'm not to sure how much truth there was to their explanation, but the key works in and out without any problems now. If you disconnect your negative battery terminal and the key remains stuck, then most likely, it is the ignitions internal components that are the cause.

Is there a fuel pump reset switch on a 2005 Kia Spectra?

yes there is. I just got mine back from dealer, sent it in because it wouldn't start and I didn't know what was wrong with it. They said the switch had been activated and they reset it. Guess it is near the air filter.

What is the correct tire pressure for Kia Spectra?

What could be the problem if your climate control directional switch for your 2002 Kia Spectra is not working?

I had the same problem. There is a vent under the dashboard on the passenger side. It slides to the right or left, if you slide this in the opposite direction from where it is right now it will allow you to adjust the temperature. It seems the little plastic clamp is not strong enough to handle moving the vent when the temperature control knob is turned instead the arm that adjusts it pops loose. =========================================== The above answer fixes the problem if you can't adjust the temperatureof the air coming out of the vent. If you can't change what vents the air is coming out of (directional control) then either the switch in the dash is bad ($20 from Kia, but not often the problem) or the expensive little motor that controls the flow valve is bad (much more expensive and more often the problem...of course) Most of the dash has to be removed to get the assembly out, requiring the removal of a number of screws and careful prying. If you want to try the repair by yourself, befriend a local Kia mechanic and ask for instructions or go to your local library and see if they have a repair book that covers your car. Worse comes to worse, you can buy the manual online. If you have any intention of keeping this car for a while, the book will be a good investment because you will need it often.
