How did the mackintosh apple computer get its name?

Steve Jobs had worked during the summer at an apple farm, and admired the Beatles' record label, Apple. He also believed Apples to be the most perfect fruit. He and Steve Wozniak were trying to figure out a name for their new company, and they decided that if they couldn't think of one by the end of the day that was better than Apple, they would choose Apple. They couldn't think of anything better, so on April 1, 1976, Apple Computer, Inc. was born.

But they needed a logo. The first design included Sir Isaac Newton, a tree and a banner that said "Apple Computer." Jobs decided they needed a less busy logo, one that would signify a brand. The second logo attempt was very similar to the current logo, but without the bite taken out of it. Jobs thought this logo looked too much like an orange. The third attempt was the logo that Apple still uses.

I got this info from the www.apple-history.nl website, many more apple facts on there too

Quite right he did like the Beatles, but the Beatles had the brand name first, and Jobs had to pay the The Beatles 26.5 million dollars to use the logo

Can you install ANY OS on your ps2 p21 or psp?

PSPs which are able to run homebrew could use a port of "BOCHS" to run basic operating systems on them. However a PSP is far too slow to run any operating systems at useable speeds. PS2s can run linux, if you buy one of the old kits and a USB keyboard, but again it would be slow. PS3s could do this much faster, a Google for "linux on PS3" would help you.

What are the function of the buttons called ECG power and second start in a Toyota Land Cruiser prado KZJ95?

ECG Power control the shift points for the automatic transmission. Push it in and your transmission will shift at a height RPM. It is good for towing. 2nd start is handy when you are in the snow and you are spinning your tires. It will force the transmission to start in 2nd gear making it more difficult for the engine to spin the tires from a stand still.

Why was the first Apple computer sold for 666.66?

Steve Wozniak related in an interview:

"I simply like triple digit numbers with all the things I'm involved with, the cost of making the Apple 1 was around $540 or there about and we agreed on the best markup, retail price above the cost of building it, which worked out to $666. Jobs then tacked on the 66 cents to make it an eye-catcher price for the ads with the sale and promotion publications of it to the public."

What is the ratio of Windows users to Mac OS and other systems?

Ever hear the saying "there are three types of lies; Lies, damn lies, and statistics"? That is especially true when attempting to measure operating system market share. Due to a lack of any reliable method of tracking usage, it is impossible to know what percentage of people use what operating system.

Windows has the highest market share of any desktop operating system. The number is difficult to measure because the only way to measure it is through computers bundled with it. This does not take into account that a user may purchase a system with Windows and then install an alternative operating system instead. It can also be affected in the other direction by piracy of Windows. Estimates for the percentage of Windows users range from 80 to 90 percent of the total market share.

Mac OS X is probably a little easier to measure, though still uncertain. This is because a user could theoretically install Windows, Linux, or some other operating system on newer Intel Macs, thus making the market share of Mac hardware irrelevant. A new trend is also emerging of "Hackintoshes", or Mac OS X modified to work on standard PCs. Estimates of Mac OS X market share range from 6 to 10 percent.

Linux and most other operating systems are the most difficult to measure because usage is not typically driven by hardware sales. Most users have already purchased a computer with another operating system and installed their choice over it. Most Linux distributions also do not require any registration or membership. Downloads also cannot be used as an indicator, since a user could decide to download Linux and then not use it, or download several Linux distros. Estimates for Linux market share range from less than 1 percent to 5 percent.

What does mounting an image mean?

Most downloaded software for Mac is distributed using disk image (.dmg) files. When a .dmg downloads, it will 'mount,' meaning that it makes its content accessible via the Finder (the desktop) so that the user can either install or view the contents (just as if it were an actual disk). When the user is finished with the contents of the 'virtual disk,' it can then be 'ejected' and the .dmg file can be deleted. The same process occurs when an actual external drive (USB or Firewire HD, flash drive, or other media) is connected, although those devices actually mount, rather than virtually.

How do you return an iTunes movie if you rent it?

It will expire and you will not be able to watch it anymore. There is not another way to return it.

You have purchased songs on your itunes account from 3 different computers and you want them to play on all the computers you have allowed access to the new computer but you still cant play old purcha?

Well you should try to put all of the songs on a back up file (flashdrive.) If that does not work you can getthoes disks that you can copy things on them. (You might need more than one CD, it all depends on how many songs you have on your iPod.) once you have that all copyed on the CD you can easly put them on you new computer all you have to do is create a new account on your computer than put the CD in your drive and then you can just download them on to your iPod. You might want to keep the CD just in case if you get a new computer. Hope this is helpful to you.
