For a v6 it is 123456 and for a 4 cylinder it is 1342. The distributor caps should also have the piston numbers marked on top.

There should be a plastic or metal canister with two lines running from it to a pump on the engine, follow the lines to the the pump to confirm the right spot to put it. If still not sure go to your local autozone or o'riellys and ask.

It's definitely not in the Instrument Cluster, since I disconnected it to replace some lamps and then reconnected it and the data was there again (unless there is a extremely long lasting - since mine is already 12 years old)

The transmission pan has to be removed. There is no drain. lower one corner to let fluid drain into a pan. After the pan has been removed, take out the filter and replace. Reinstall the pan with a new gasket.

From day one I have put in slick 50 every 3 oil changes.

I put 5w-20w synthetic oil in every time. Also Lucas oil treatment, when I don't put in the slick 50. Runs quite as a baby. 362K and still going strong.

DO NOT BUY a Mazda MPV! I bought a 2002 MPV ES (loaded) and it has been one of the worst vehicles I've owned in my 35 years of driving. In 5 years both front doors have rusted out, the flex pipe for the exhaust system cracked and the dealer said they had to order the part from Japan - 1-2 months delivery time or I could pay $200.00 to have it flown express ( eventually went to a custom stanless steel exhaust fabrication company to have one made), the blower motor resistor has gone, the back doors freeze shut in the winter, the relay for the ignition system went last winter - the dealer couln't get the part for 2 weeks so my wife had to pull a fuse every time she wanted to remove the ignition key. Do yourself a favour, buy anything else! I'll never own a Mazda again!

Strutmasters make an excellent kit, easy directions, a regular guy with regular tools can do it.

No it's not an excellant kit it's inferior and poor quality. You can fix your air suspension easier and probably cheaper without depreciating the value of your car. Hope this helps

I recently changed the filter in my 2000 MPV and, if the 2002 hasn't changed which I doubt it has, this seems, initially, to be an easy procedure. However, the filter box is situated in such a way as to make pulling the old out and putting the new in very difficult. Overall if you're half way decent with tools and know your way around a car you'll be able to do it in about 20 to 30 minutes vice 30 seconds for my other car, a Honda Civic. I have a 90 MPV and also the shop manual (a real one) and I did not find a reset button in the manual or the vehicle. The later model MPV may have one.

Check engine is telling you something theres problem on your engine, I hope you did not mess with your timing if not then start checking with your spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor I hope these helps you. In most cases fixing the problem makes the light go out. If you have an OBDII code reader, you can use that to clear the code(s) but the light will soon come on again if the problem is still there. It doesn't have a cap and rotor and you can't adjust the ignition timing. That same OBDII reader or a shop with one will tell you what's wrong.

On my 93 Mazda MPV I removed the shroud above the fan, loosened the tensioner on the right side (as you look at the engine) and that losens the outside belt. Then, go to the other side and losen the tensioner top and bottom for the alternator and second belt. Losen the bolt under the alternator and it will hit the pulley before you get it out - so you'll have to remove the pulley. Used a screwdriver to go through the small holes in the pulley and jam the pulley so I could losen with 5/8 socket. This may take a cheater. It is a regular thread (no reverse thread here) We did remove the bottom shroud but may not have been necessary as the pulley bolt was visibile and accessible from above. Once the pulley is off, remove the long bolt underneath the alternator and lift the alternator and tilt for access to the back - remove the 2 electrical wires sets and it should lift right out of there.

Just follow the lower radiotor hose to the motor on the drivers side it's inside some kind of cup. That's on a V6 ENGINE.

Well, depends if your talking cylinders 4,5,6 which are in the front or 1,2,3 under intake. Front 4,5,6 easy; remove crankcase hose from front valve cover, slip it to the side loosely, remove 3 8mm hold down bolts for plastic dressing/cover hiding coil packs and intake plenum. Remove cover, locate coil packs, disconnect electrical connector by squeezing and pulling firmly, then remove 8mm bolt securing coil. Simply re install new one in reverse. Cylinders 1,2,3 must remove air intake box and hose and all electrical connections in the immediate area of that. Remove EGR valve-2 12mm bolts- and connector, careful not to drop gasket found between intake and valve. Remove 1, 8mm bolt securing intake to block found by egr valve, also remove on passenger side of compartment the 2, 8mm bolts securing the manifold pressure sensor from the side of intake. See power steering pressure hose clamp bolted to intake-rermove and also 1 8mm bolt in rear securing bracket to intake. Loosen and remove 6 8mm bolts securing upper plenum, remove plenum and watch if any additional parts drag against each other and adjust as needed. Slide manifold to side only half way; enough to see coils and same procedure as fronts. re-assemble. Install egr valve first that way its not so tight o install after. Secure bracket bolts and sensors/switches,air box, oh and remove battery. Will make more room for service.

Inside the fuel tank... the tank must be dropped and the filter is part of the fuel pump assembly which includes the pump, filter and pressure regulator. Most parts stores have the whole assembly for around $200 - $250. You can do it yourself, but plan on about 3 hours for the whole job. JUST TO REPLACE A FUEL FILTER!
