Removing the headlamps for 1992, 1993, and 1994 Mercury Grand Marquis' is the same procedure since all of these years include the same body style. To perform this labor, you will need a pair of Bent External Circlip Pliers. Open the hood and find the foremost plastic panel with the caution labels on it. This panel is held in by eight plastic plugs; they can easily be removed by gently pulling up on the plastic panel, or by gently prying them up with a screwdriver. Once this panel is off find the backs of the headlamps and unplug the headlights (a low beam and high beam for each headlamp). When the harnesses have been unplugged, remove the headlights from the headlamp by turning the light assembly counter clockwise until it stops, then carefully pull it out making sure you do not touch any part of the bulb with you hands. The oils on our skin can cause light bulbs to burn out faster if the heat from the bulbs heats the oils. Now that the bulbs are out of the headlamps it is time to use the circlip pliers: On the back of each headlamp are three bolts with black plastic fasteners and clips; Each clip is locked into the black fasteners (you only need to remove the clips to remove the headlamps); using the circlip pliers, find the base of each clip and feed the pliers into the two small holes of the clip. Sqeezing the pliers spreads the clip away from the fastener, so all you need to do at this point is to pull upward to remove the clip. Repeat this sequence for each of the other five clips. The headlamps will slide out of the front of the car. If you have moisture in your headlamps, you can use a hairdryer pressed firmly against one of the openings in the headlamp to heat up the inside and evaporate any water.You may notice that air escapes from the other opening, but that is okay; you can plug the other hole to confine the heat in the headlamp if you want. To prevent water from finding its way into the headlamp again, use some sealant around the headlamp assembly. If you have stained headlamps form soil build-up, a good cleanser that worked well for me is Bleche Wite White Wall Wheel Cleaner. Using a soft cloth or a clean sponge, spray cleaner directly onto the headlamp. Spread the solution evenly over the headlamp and let stand for a few minutes. Afterward, begin rubbing firmly in a circular motion evenly around the lamp. Rinse with cool water and repeat as many times as needed until you get the result you desire.
