The drive belt snapped and as it was moving at 75mph the the pistons smashed themselves around in the engine causing the car to suddenly stop and lose power.

Took a new belt and expensive engine repair to fix.

Putting a turbo on a non turbo eclipse, right? From around $2000 for a Hahn stage 1 kit 200-225hp,stage 2 $3000 250-275hp, treadstone has a T3/T4 kit around $1750.

I believe in general, every 30,000 miles is the recommended.

Not fun. Your probably going to have to remove the rear seat or rear panels and access/disconnect the drive mecahnism. Maybe you'll get lucky and you can just unhook the linkage and lower it that way.

from the trunk, remove hyd. fluid from the conv. top pump, operate top by hand. worked for me for years

1-Take the battery out

2-Remove the battery tray

3-You should see the black sensor on the top of the transmission on the back.

It takes a 10mm socket then it should lift out.

Take the plastic gear off and see if the shaft will spin with a drill with someone in the car watching the speedo (the car has to be on)

If it works, then just check all the connections with the wires and the gear to the tranny.

If you can stick your whole fingers through the hole and spin it...the whole tanny has to come out to replace the gear ;)

It should be next to one of the cams, is it a single cam or dual cam?

It depends. if you have a eclipse that was made by chrystler then it is the one box deep behind the radio mounted on the floor board. it looks like an ecu but chrystler put that under the hood. If its a Mitsubishi made eclipse then the ecu is right beside the tcu behind your radio. the tcu in the Mitsubishi made car is to the right on the pasengers side.

There isn't one in the cabin of the vehicle... There's a button underneath the middle of the rear spoiler... Stumped me for a couple days too!

When fuel is introduced into the combustion chamber it is under pressure (14.7 lbs). If your compression ration is 9.5:1 (for example) multiply 9.5 times 14.7 and you will have the actual pressure that the fuel is at when you piston is at its top most position and the fuel is most compressed. Basically, the greater the compression ratio, the bigger the bang when a spark (from your spark plug) is introduced to the compressed fuel. If the bang and the strength of the piston, cylinder wall, tie rods etc. are well calibrated, your car will go fast. If they're not your engine will go bang and your car won't go anywhere.

Its called TDC (top dead center). And what you need to have bigger bang lol is more air and fuel. lol you went out of the question with that.

The ECU, or electronic control module, is found on the passenger side of the 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT. The ECU is hidden behind the passenger kick panel underneath the carpet.

drain the coolent remove timing belt.....loosen bolts....4g63, take off accessory belts and remove

The engine could be too hot for the ac to work. When the engine idles, the compresser isn't spinning as fast and can't keep the AC cold Possibly a cooling system problem, probably just a combo of the above.

the cam angle sensor is the crank angle sensor it preforms both jobs

if it is stock (uncustomized) it would be about 155 to 160 mph.

if it is customized it should be about 185 to 200 mph.

to replace the shocks in a nut shell, take off the rear tire, buy a spring compresser and compress the springs, there is bolts that hold the shock in, take those out, one at the top and one at the bottom, after that pull the shock out with the spring, and put it back together just how you took it out.

The Mitsubishi 2.4 liter engine timing marks can be found on the front of the main pulley. The timing marks will be scattered around the outside of the main pulley.

The fuel pump fuse on a 1991 Plymouth Laser is located in the engine compartment's fuse box. It prevents the fuel pump from being damaged by an electrical surge.

Had this problem for quite some time, very similar. The engine will not start when it is warm. Recently it started dying when the engine got too warm.

It is a sensor that won't work when the engine is (too) warm, and there are two of these sensors.

Since I don't know the actual name of the thing, I can try to explain where you find it and approximately what it does. The price to get a new one is probably in the range of $50 or less (I think). You can *easily* replace it yourself.

I believe the name of the bad sensor is: CAMSHAFT SENSOR.

When you now look at the engine you see the 4 spark plugs. Cables go out from these spark plugs and go to the right. On the right hand side of the right spark plug towards you you see a small gizmo with cables coming out. Attached with a single 12mm screw, a cable coming out off of it.

The sensor itself is the size of a half thumb inside, and it is a magnet that detects the coil position (am I right ?). This magnet tells the spark plugs when to spark. Buy a new one sensor. There's a second sensor like this on another place in the engine but I don't know where exactly - it has the same job.

One temporary trick is that you can do is remove insulation inside the engine-cover around this sensor, or remove the cover alltogether. Makes things cool down faster, or use cooling-spray.

Before you try anything else,make sure the window lock switch on the driver side control is not turned off !
